Hey gang,
I havent seen other posts about this, and its news to me, so I figured I'd go ahead and make a post about it. I imagine many of you are already aware but I was stunned.

So i'm at the local Wal Mart to pick up some spray paint and resin. I walk by the toy isle and something catches my eye. Holy crap! Can it be?

Woah, how awesome! Its about time they came out with LEGO Halo kits. Oh wait, there's another, and another, and another.

So I think to myself: ya know, self, this is pretty awesome! Finally Lego has.....wait a tic. What is that down there in the bottom right corner of the box.

....you gotta be kidding me. Lego isnt making these? The Halo toy contract went to MEGA BLOCKS? What is this crap for crap? This is bull-dog. Why isnt Lego making these toys? Lego must have been tied up with another phenominally spectacular new project that prevented them from making the Halo line. Oh, wait, here it is...

...really. Wow. Prince of Persia. How anti-climactic. COME ON LEGO! WHAT'S WITH YOU GUYS? How could you do this to me? I feel so let down.

In all seriousness the Mega Block Halo kits do look pretty sweet. They even have permutation figures of marines, Mark VI, Busa, Elites, and they all look pretty darn good for building block kits. I know what I'll be using as stocking stuffers. What little girl or boy wouldnt love a building block mongoose?

Believe me. Don't waste your money on Mega Block's Halo. The pieces don't even hold together like lego. I bought my kids one of the kit and we had to resort to super glue the pieces. They fall apart so easily that it wasn't even funny.

I bought the Aerial Battle set (Hawk vs. Banshee, plus Covie turret), and in terms of quality, it's terrible. The bricks are extremely cheap, light plastic, and they don't fit together well at all. It's very hard to get all the bricks to sit down flush against each other. Not to mention to the minigun pieces don't snap on well at all. You barely bump them and they fly across the room like they're spring loaded (a smart person would write something rebounding plastic physics. . .).

On the other hand, here's some real Halo Legos. Yes, they're made from Lego brand Lego bricks. No, they are not real sets you can buy.

Been around since august of '09 REALLY LONG TIME!!

@Garland- SABER-SCORPION FTW!! Freakin love his stuff!

Lol... This thread had the much needed sense of humor I required after this only halfway done long day of the public screaming in my face

I used to be a huge lego fan, but always hated mega blocks. When I first saw these last year, I almost got back into legos, but then I realized that they were mega blocks. :(

Anyways, who needs legos when there is fiber glass.

On another note I would be interested to see someone make a costume out of legos, or a life size sculpture.

What I would like to see is a LEGO Master Chief like the one Brandon McClain has for a avatar now that would be cool.

Well, brickforge offers the parts you need, if you're willing to drop purism. (I'm okay with letting go of my purist mentality for minifigs. Anything else, though... >_> That means no decals, either. Tampos or nothing)

Check out Garlands link, go to his halo section and look at the Sierra 117 vignette that he made, that is where the pic B. McClain has came from.

To be honest I hate how they made Mega Blocks sets. I mean... It's a game which involves killing blood-thirsty religious aliens and parasitic zombies that infect people from the inside out with a mix of the odd pool of blood. Those don't really add up as the perfect Lego series to me.
It's a game for adults. Don't make Lego sets for 7 year olds. (No offense to everyone on this topic :p)

Yeah it was really funny...

So I was walkin through walmart and I heard two 6 year olds looking at the thing (warthog gun with three spartans) and they were like...
Kid 1: Then that guy jumps out of the car and is like "I DONT LIKE YOU!! BEW BEW BEW!!"
Kid 2: And that one says, "NO YOU HURT MY FRIEND!!" and he punches him like this (he turned to ME and hit me in the stomach, I was like WTF?)
Kid 1: Yeah and then they all become friends and this alien says "OHH LETS HAVE A PARTY!!"

WHAT THE FU-- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! <- my mind

I see little kids buying Halo stuff all the time, especially the McFarlane Reach stuff, so the market is definitely there. Mega Bloks is doing alright, and they cater to kids a lot more than Lego does. Has MB ever done anything like the Ultimate Collector Series? I'd like to see a little kid build an exact minifig scale Millenium Falcon. There's a huge AFOL (adult fans of Lego) community. There's a guy called Hazel that makes Lego Gears of War stuff, and he's got a booming business.

And for more Halo Lego goodness, check here, here and here, and definitely here.

Aagh! Grammar nazi here, the plural of Lego is "Lego" not "legos", :)

Also Lego has a company policy of not making any 20 century (and apparently just after C20) weapons. Star wars is a fantasy theme! Ever wonder why all the tanks and aircraft carrier made in blocks are NOT made by Lego?

Yeah, I'm lucky to have kids. I get to buy lego and hang out in the toy section...(Hey boys, look at this it's a banshee...whee!)

Have ya... played the game online lol?

I... really need the lego ODST squad. Buuuuck!

Ohhhh wait. What I really need are these: http://www.saber-scorpion.com/lego/firefly_serenity.php

Oh, no. Oh, no. If you wanna be a Grammar Nazi, it's Lego Elements or Lego bricks. Furthermore, you failed to capitalize Lego in the final sentence, as well as Nazi. Secondarily, Legos is an appropriate moniker for the toy, within a community of fans.

And, MegaBloks had that whole super-set thing for awhile, but it failed to sell well and used a LOT of parts made specially for the sets, a failing Lego hardly reproduces, with continuous reuse of the good, old System. (I've never gotten a MB set that didn't have a piece made specially for it.)

For now, I'm in a rut, re-organizing my Legos from being a cluster in boxes, to having brick-sorted order. I've probably gone through 400 bricks in the last 2 days, and I don't notice any difference in the amount of Legos in my main box. It's like sifting the sand and detritus out of a lake. No matter how many tons you get out of there, you will NEVER note a difference in water level. Such an arduous task. (On that note, I'm fairly certain Arduous Task is the name of a Covenant ship)
