Hey everybody. I signed up here a long time ago when I was working on my H3 marine, but haven't posted in a while. Here are a few pics of that suit with some friends.

Anyways, I've started working on my Mark V (b) armour. As usual, I start with the helmet. That way if I never finish, at least I have something cool to put on my shelf. It's about 60% of the way along. Here it is from pep, to resin, (then fibreglassing, but I don't have pics of the inside), Bondo gold/resin gelcoat, and cutting. I still have a bunch of sanding/bondo/sanding to do, but I thought I would post the progress up.

Hey! I know that squad and the Grunt too!

Nice start on your helm! :)
Good to see the Mountains and Valley's color coded. I did the same with my build.
Scaling appears to be good.
Assuming that the fiberglassing is done, the helm looks ready for the Bondo and Sanding stages.
If your thinking of adding helm fan(s), this would be a good time to figure out fan placement and possibly vents for the fan(s). Your at the same stage that I was at when I did the vent cutting for my helm.

Nice work so far. :)

Cheers!

It's looking awesome Marine.... but if you become a Spartan who am I going to have as a meat shield? :(

Yea! What NovemberAdam Said.

Wait.... I take that back! Hmmm... Marine "Meat Shield" has no "Shields" but a Spartan does! You can be my Meat Shield!

:)

Thanks guys. The vents are already cut for the fans. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to cut for lights; whether I should just drill out a spot for each LED, or take out a bigger section and put LED's behind some transparent-ish material.

And don't worry. We still have Peter and Kris as meat shields.

Dude that grunt pic is freakin hilarious and your work thus far is very impressive! cant wait to see this progress.

Good luck in the spartan program soldier!

I started playing with a photo touch up app on my phone. This first pic highlights the spots where I have vents cut out.

This one is a quick colour scheme mockup if I decide to go red team. Thoughts?

Hmmm... that last picture. Me thinks that RED does not suit you. Your looking kinda sick in that last pic.
JKing :)

RED would certainly stand out!

Long time no post. I've finished bondoing and sanding my helmet. It's primed and ready for electronics and paint. I've got all the supplies I need for fans and lights. I've cut two spaces in the back of the helmet for the switches. The switches are fairly low profile, so they shouldn't distract too much. I've also cut my visor. I'm just holding it in place in the pics. I'll install it after I paint. It's not quite as convex as I would have liked, but this is the best the bike shop had, and for a reasonable price. Anyways, enjoy

Nice progress Shawn. :)
Excellent work on the bondo and sanding. Looks good.
The visor should be flexible enough for you to curve it more. The trick is to get it to stay that way with being creative in the mounting of the visor.

Looking forward to seeing it painted.

Cheers!

Here we go! Time to share my progress since my last post. I picked up a couple ouf automotive paints. I decided this will end up as Noble 6, so I got a dark steel colour, and a lighter silver one. I've installed lights, fans, and some padding. I still need to pad more on the sides. But why wait, here you go:

And I'll be putting my gamertag as the barcode on the back. I'll eliminate the text.

This is looking sick! Which bike shop did you get the visors from? Are the fans giving adequate ventilation? Are the switches set up that one is for lights and one is for fans or is it set up in a left right config?

I forget the name of the shop. It's just off of Blackfoot trail behind a car dealership, on the opposite side of Bloackfoot from SEALS Action Gear. The left switch is for fans, the right one is for lights. I based the light circuit mostly on what Link posted in an electronics tutorial, but wired with only one 9V instead of two. The fans have a basic parallel circuit to a 9V, so they don't need a resistor. They run slightly slow, as they're rated for 12V, but any faster and they'd get too loud. They blow enough cool air in that I don't fog up, and I have the vent directly in front of me to breathe out. Today I'll start pepping something else. Not sure what. Maybe boots.

Looking NICE!
I like the detail on the visor. Well done.
Lovin the LED's! I always love the lights.
:)

Looks great, I noticed you put a vent in near you're mouth. How's that working for you?

It's awesome. The game model has a vent there too, but I positioned mine slightly higher and narrower. Not any purpose behind that, I just didn't have the reference with me when I cut it out. But I wore the helmet for about ten minutes yesterday, walked around, played some grifball, and it didn't fog up at all. So we'll see how it does outside in the heat when I'm sweating my face off, but so far so good.
