Hello 405th I have returned sorry I havent been updating in a while got pretty carried away with my builds.
First off I had been working on updating and redoing parts to my halo reach Carter costume for those of you who don't remember this is what it originally looked like
So if you notice there are several things here out of place one is the shoes thier way off at the toe and that had bugged me for a while problem was finding a file that had the complete boot so I could make it out of foam another was the shins and thighs both of which werent quite accurate I mean they looked good but they were off from alot of the other 405thmemeber I saw at comic con . and of course my biceps were too small and also not the correct file.
So my first objective was to fix my shins and thighs I surfed around for a bit and managed to find the right files for them . Big thanks to my friend Nick Knack Patty wack for giving me his old shins that he semi finished he had stopped cause they were too small for his gargantuan muscled calves as he puts it, only thing was missing was the back parts which I'll admit I got lazy and just cut off the backs of my old shins and slapped them on the new shins for halloween ( but dont worry I put the right ones on just havent took a pic yet)
I made the thighs out of foam (couldnt find a foam mat that was all the same color)
Also i had been rolling an idea in my head for a while to have a gun that can attach to my costume with magnets my asault rifle made from styrene and a nerf gun was way too heavy so I decided to make a DMR for SDCC and have it attach to my back, here's where I ran into some problems.
1 my computer went on the fritz two weeks before SDCC so I had no access to pepekura so I could build a DMR so I scratch built one basing it off my Carter toy.
and it took me a while to realize that I made it WAY too big
so I figured it's too close to SDCC for a rebuild I'll just run with it and I think some of you noticed it lol.
So I decided to make a second DMR this one was made from a sliced DMR file and I used foam board styrene foamies and pvc pipe I was determined to make it light enough to attach to my armor.
At this point I kinda noticed the Barrel was too big but I left it like that and painted it yellow that way LAPD won't think I'm some kind of Armored Terrorist ( went to hollywood on halloween and they were still looking a bit jumpy when I walked by) but now for the big test the magnets.
SUCCESS! although I had to reposition the magnets a few times but there was the end result
the gun held up pefectly just as long as no one bumped into me it took a little practice to take if off and put in on again in costume but I got the hang of it so all that was left was to go to a Halloween party .......
and PWN!!
However I did not stop there for another suit was being made deep within the bowels of my bedroom I had begun constructing a new torso and biceps for my Carter outfit one that was going to be better detailed than my previous one with better detail using a combination of Foam mats and Foamies, and I set it up to have atleast 20 LED lights in it to look like the game armor.
