hey 405th,

i putted a stop to my old build for a couple of reasons and decided to start a halo 4 build. the old one won't be forgotten tough, i still got my helmet and the torso and other helmet will go to a friend of mine that might be able to make me a halo 4 under suit.

right now I’m working on the first part. i will do only one part at a time so i can keep things simple and organized.

parts I’m going to make:

helmet:
Deadeye

Visor:
Midnight

Torso:
Rogue

Shoulders:
Rogue

forearms:
mark VI

legs:
RG-63 Counter

hands:
normal hand plates

these parts might still vary, but i am pretty sure about the Rogue parts. if you guys like feel free to suggest better fitting parts or cool gadgets to fit the suit.
as i mentioned earlier i am working on the helmet right now and it is in sanding status. pictures wil follow :D

after i am done with the helmet i will go on the hand plates since i already got the pep files.

if anyone of you has or knows about Rogue files please let me know. i have been searching the forums but i think there still aren't any yet. maybe i will have to model them myself so reference pictures are most welcome. and yes i will of course share the model once it is done :D

i hope you guys are going to like this thread as much as i am going to enjoy this Project.

as promised some pictures :)

so far this wil be the suit i am going to build:

as you can see i am trying to get my helmet as symetric as i can. the pep was a bit off at some points so i'm trying to correct that with bondo. for the inside i used rondo for the first time, and wow it was so so easy (andlazy wich i like!). more pictures will follow in time as i am also busy with my graduation from school.

i hope you guys like it so far, and if you have any tips, suggestions or ideas on this project please do tell!

I'm working on that same helmet, but right now it's below freezing where I live, so bondo has to wait. Your helmet looks great so far, i hope there's more to see soon!

so wait ... you can just do a coat of resin on the outside and then rondo the inside for the strength part?

I've used this technique before and I can tell ya, thats basically all ya do. What I do though is cut 3 inch by 3 inch squares of fiberglass and use double sided tape to tape them in, then I pour the rondo over them. Makes for a lot more durable piece.

@NoMaybeYes

wel the only tips i can give you is to work in steps. if you resin the whole piece at once there is a big chance that your model wil collapse under the eight of the resin. besides think about pourinf paper into water it wil make it disolve at a point.
after you get a couple or resin layers i usually use fiberglass on the inside. but on this build i only use rondo on the inside, and i have to say it keeps verry verry wel. so it's goodbye fiberglass for me.
for the bondo part, it's wise to work in small parts so you can keep things organized. i also used a marker to make notes on the helmet itself so i can keep an overview at the points that need to be done. another small thing i did and wich i find quite handy is to primercoat the helmet once in a while. when you make it 1 grey collor you can see if the surface is smooth enough or if it needs more work. be sure to use primer and not a other paint. the primer is still easy to work with, and it dries within 10 to 20 minutes usually.

i hope this helps to get you started, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

@conman756
for me yes. that the only thing i did on this helmet, and i can say it is hard as a rock. i did a other helmet before with fiberglass, and that one is acutally weaker than this rondo one. like Rheiner said you can use a mix between fiberglas and rondo wich wil strenghten it even more. and i have seen bondo with fibers mixxed inside it wich you can buy as wel, so if you can make rondo with that, it will be even easier and less itchy :D
