***UPDATE: THIS SUIT IS NOW FOR SALE IN THE MARKTPLACE***

HERE WE GO! For my second suit, I am doing an H4 (5?) Master Chief. I have had a lot of fun with my Reach armor but I'm ready to kick it up a notch. My goal this time: Complete in time for MegaCon, which I missed last year. I bought myself a silhouette cameo machine, and after playing with it this morning I find myself asking, "How the heck did I do this before the cameo?!". Seriously, if you are serious about armoring, and can afford to splurge a little...buy a cameo. It will literally cut your build time in half, not to mention your stencils will be perfect every time. I found a starter bundle on Amazon, which includes the machine, two blades, two cutting mats, and a bunch of other stuff for $229...a great deal considering the machine itself is usually $270-300.

I will post a list of all files I will be using, and will photo document the entire process.

Let's begin...
Just cut the stencils for the biceps, forearms, and shoulders (which took all of 8-10 minutes with the cameo, by the way...seriously, this thing is AWESOME.). I plan on having these built by monday night. Progress pics soon...

As with the Reach Armor, i am using three thicknesses of foam: 1/2" EVA foam, 6mm craft foam, and 2mm craft foam. This makes details a lot easier and sharper, as small parts are much easier to cut from smaller foam.

Also, I use X-acto Z series blades, they seem to last longer than regular x-acto blades, they are less than $1 more than the other ones...

Got a lot done today, nothing picture worthy though, just prep stuff. Got everything scaled to fit me and let my sweet little robot friend cut the stencils for the boots, shins, knees, forearms, and shoulders. I have a feeling this helmet's gonna be tough to build from foam...currently unfolding it for foam use. Yikes...

Also, I bought myself the dremel workstation drill press thing. This should help a lot for detailing. For everyone that had such nice things to say about my Reach armor, I hope to really blow you all away with this one!

Glad to see your building again. It looks like we're both building a new armor for MegaCon. Any chance you'll make it to AnimateMiami in January? Look forward to this build, good luck.

I definitely won't have the new suit ready, but I can still rock my Reach armor! Hit me up, I definitely want to go. Never been to AnimateMiami.

so I'm off to an annoying start, I started working on one forearm, did most of the detailed parts, then came to the realization that the file i was using looks NOTHING LIKE Master Chiefs forearms...blargh. I'm switching to Rhinoc's very basic forearm file...the shape and faces look good, I can add the details myself. Cameo cutting now...

Just plasti-dipped and primered the forearm, gonna go ahead and paint it to do a color test. Should have some pics later.

Paint test..."hunt club green" shadowed over with ultra flat forest camo green, drybrushed with flat black and silver...i like it...

Looks fantastic man! I love the color scheme you did with the green as well witht he painting.

But the reason i was posting this picture is because i had a question about the white pieces. Is that the color of the foam or is it the thinner crafty foam some peiple use to add details and whatnot?

The white parts are 6mm craft foam. It is really great for details, curves, and small pieces that are difficult to cut from the eva foam. Thats the stuff that I built my entire Reach Operator helmet out of. You can get it at Joann Fabrics.

And thanks! I am really happy with the colors as well.

Finished the bicep last night. I think its coming along nicely...

looking nice. I am about to build my dummy too, I am going to fill it with expanding foam lol. I haven't seen anyone try that so it should be interesting.
