Hey guys, this is my first shot at a thread and build. I will try to post as many photos as possible, but i am in school so my time is limited. I did some work on this suit beforehand and i have decided to start a thread. I hope you see work you like and if you have any questions just ask. I am making a ultra HD suit and going for complete game accuracy, enjoy. I am currently working on the helmet and other pieces. Here are the finished pieces:

If anyone has any help they could give me, that would be great, im still new to this community and want to be a part of it.

Thanks, Benjamin

It's looking pretty good so far. Seems like you've got a good grasp of how things are done :) If you have any specific questions about anything, feel free to ask and we'll be more than happy to help.

Thanks man, im mainly wondering about the casting process, because i dont like the idea of wearing my high detail masters to events with the possibility of them breaking.

*UPDATE*

today i had time so i quickly pepped out the 2 handplates:

With bondo and resin on, just a rough coat:

The hand plate looks great. I like the little bit of battle damage you added. Keep it up.

I haven't made any of the MC helmets so I can't say really. I'd go with the H4 helmet V2 on MS7's database - HERE

In those earlier pictures, it sure looks like a vacuum forming table the handplates are setting on... dost thee eyes deceive me?

Nice work on the pieces so far btw... I really like the battle damage as well.

Is that a downdraft table for sanding on in the pictures? If so, does the pegboard top work well vice wooden slats?
Tha is actually a downdraft table for my sanding, you are correct glasscutter, unfortunately the vacuum i use is not the most effective, i am getting a dust collector for my shop very soon, thanks for the ongoing support, i will post more progress soon.

the pegboard is actually a piece of masonite that i drilled holes in with a drill press, and then made a box with a slant inside leading to the vacuum, it would work better if i had a better vacuum:(

I am starting to do the scaling with low def pieces anyway. Then when I have the measurement right build the Hi-def version. You could always open up the low-def and hi-def pep files side by side and compare them. Should give you a good idea of how much work the low-def piece would need. This is one reason I am glad the 405th is not formally associated with Microsoft or Bungie like the 501st is with Lucas. The suits can have as little or as much detail as wanted, instead of having to conform to a set model or construction method.

yeah, i see what you mean, i think i am going to make the low def build, then use bondo to build up the details instead, because with my perfectionism, i think it would be hard to get into those nooks and crannies with a dremel, so i will do a helmet fully, THEN do detailing with bondo

This morning I printed my helmet

I was able to pep the left top area of the helmet

I had more time so i pepped the right side of the top of the helmet, as well as the middle including the AI port:

i had a little frustrating warp in the bridge of the helmet, hopefully that will correct itself as the build progresses
