I started working on this project for a Halloween Airsoft game. I didn't want to use a whole lot of time making this, so I decided to make it out of cardboard and fake it by looking at pictures. The total project took me a little over 10 hours total.
The Base armor
Shoulder Pads (To be attached to some old knee pads later on)
Front pieces assembled and attached. Shoulder pads painted.
Armor painted, leg plates made.
Gauntlets made and painted. Leg plates painted (Started running out of black paint at this point).
Well today I used my ODST armor at Sequoia Airsoft's Halloween game. The armor held up surprisingly well. It has a nice worn down look to it now (thanks to painting over silver duct tape). I tied for first place in the costume contest. The people I tied with was wearing a hazmat outfit, composed of a clean room suit and an orange safety vest. They only played in those for one round, because of how much heat they keep in. I used mine for 3 out of 4 rounds. I'll try to have the pictures from the contest up as soon as they upload them to the site.
The beat up front (the logo started pealing off, so some black tape was used to keep it on)
Shoulder pad, with fresh paintball paint on it. I ran into a wall at running speed and this shoulder pad held it's shape, despite being only one layer of cardboard thick.
At least it stops bbs. All the impacts either stopped or only got through the first layer or cardboard at most.
The backside is pretty much untouched, except from some markings from my sling.
