Rough test of recessed lighting. I made a scrap TacPad to use for altering as needed to see what would and wouldn't work. Going to clean it up for the final product.
Glued the first 3 layers together and cut out a space for the battery pack. It'll be hidden by the face place. Cut out the spaces for the light bars. The silver dot I need to cut out and then fill with red tinted glue for the "on" light.

Detail bits plus the lighting system. You can laugh, but I was stunned at how well the fairy lights illuminate the "screen".
Once I file down the marked bits I'm going to seal the "screen" onto the acrylic. I purchased some sample sheets of light blue and turquoise colored vellum online. Perfect amount of transparency. I resized the reference image to fit the screen opening and tada!
The acrylic "screen" arrived thicker and larger than I had intended. I marked off the areas that have to be filed down in order to properly fit. I have three more pieces so if this ends up being sacrificed as a test run, so be it!
I used 3mm thick EVA craft foam for the body of the tacpad. I cut it individually since two need to be cut further to fir the acrylic "screen". It's also the perfect height to fit the battery pack of the fairy lights.
