sorry for the delay in the answer, we're not visiting the 405th so often in these days...
Regarding the problem with your shin piece i don't know... how much more space do you need? Even our shins are not "instant fit" we have to struggle a litte and wear it pointing the toe straight down as we can.
If your piece is already resined try to dremel out some of the excess material (not too much or it will be too thin and it'll break).
I remember that i had to enlarge my shins soon before resin to avoid this problem... just by cutting the front part and adding two strips of paper.
