    whereisdanielle's Foam SPI Build

Big update with actually not all that much to cover other than the fact that CaminusPrime printed the helmet for me while I've been out of state. Bonus foot/shin photo: Still loads to do, but I've got a lot of work coming up. So progress will be slow.

Personally I'd kill a man to see you do #5 next

Any chance you have a version of this with the visor separate? For vacuum forming reasons?

If that was what I planned and what I wanted to do, then I would. But thats not what I want to do, nor is it the plan. Im working towards a specific goal, which includes 3D printing the helmet.

:O I'll have to give it a proper look tomorrow on my windows PC rather than on my mac. But you might just be a lifesaver once more Satchmo III

I literally just thinning with water for my airbrush, 50/50. Not exactly. I lay down the base colour, then spray the highlighting, then spray the base colour over the top of the highlighting. It makes it seem more natural. I do any weathering like silver showing through for scratches etc...

They will crack over time unless you plastidip. I got more painting done today; 4 coats of dark for a real nice even coverage, 1 washed out light coat on edges, covered the light coat with a washed out dark coat so its subtle. Tomorrow I will mask and spray the black and silver. I will the...

    whereisdanielle's Foam SPI Build

Thank you all for your kind words! Been working my lil butt off over here which means I'm back again with some more updates. I covered the armour in a layer of paint and then sanded it smooth for an even texture ready for pealcoat/plastidip. They had white on clearance so white it was. I did...

    The first? SPI armor build

Someone already built SPI back in 2013, so we're both beaten

Without the layers of Plasti-dip/peal coat ,the paint cracks and flakes off any high stress areas on the costume within the first 18 hours of wear - say two con days or so. With the plasti-dip/peal coat I'm yet to experience and cracking or flaking. Creases are inevitable because of the foam...

All my colour paints/top coats are just regular old int/ext house paints from the hardware store. My painting process is pretty simply and I will document down the line, but basically I do my gap filler and then bush straight onto the foam one coat of acrylic paint. I use this layer to find any...

I return from my long absence with some updates. Got the shins all finished up, and knee armour sorted out and joined to the shins. And then I moved on to the shoes. The toe cap and tread piece is sculpted from Foam Clay provided to me by Lumins Workshop, and worked incredibly well...

Okay update time. Be warned, this is a big one. I havent streamed any of the build since the last update because I've been power watching true crime TV shows and just trying to relax while building for a bit. I've now moved onto the legs. I love the files made by Satchmo III however they dont...

I'm glad my streams are engaging and helping motivate! That was kind of the whole reason I started streaming, just to prove that armoured cosplay isnt as hard as people think and also to be inclusive with my work and hopefully show how I make things. Satchmo III The fearlessness definitely comes...
