Bondo Body Filler.

I just got this stuff. I opened it and it has a tube full of this pink stuff and a can full of whatever. I heard you had to mix the stuff from the tube with the can stuff. What is the ratio? And should it be mixed seperately in a cup or do I just mix it there?

There's no magic ratio number for bondo. Its all based on practice and experience working with it.

But just so you know, the correct mixed bondo/hardener should very closely match the color of the pink spreaders that bondo sells.

Once you're used to working with this stuff, you'll automatically know how much hardener to mix with any amount of filler.

CPU is right dude. There is NO magic number.



Just give it a good guess of how much you need for each of the piece's areas that you are planninng to bondo.



Here are some little pices of advice when using the almighty bondo:



*You use more of the grey stuff in the can than the red stuff in the tube.



*DO NOT use the same amount of both pastes. Becuase if you do, it will harden before you can even apply it on the armor piece.



*DO NOT add the hardener inside the can and mix it. Use a spreader to get a nice amount of grey paste from the can, but don't grab a spreader full if you are doing something small like a handplate.



Hope this helps and keep reading the stickes. Those things have saved my ass from having to spend more money on my projects.

Just in case you haven't figured it out or read up enough on it yet, I'm pretty sure the can says something to the effect of:



"Use a 1 inch strip of hardener for a golf-ball size amount of putty."



Something like that. Now keep in mind, I tried that in 22degrees celsius weather (about 71.6 fahrenheit) and it dried WAY too fast, like it started hardening up while I was still mixing. Since then, I've learned to use about maybe 3/4 inch or even less for a golf-ball size amount of putty. If it's colder, use more hardener and if it's warmer then use less. Not saying you should follow that word for word but you can try experimenting from there . Hope that helps!
