F.A.Q.
  • What do u think you will sell a cast for?
A: The final price will be the cost for casting + 15% of casting (+S/H charges). [not including paint or paint effects, add-ons, ect. Commemorative 405th medallion free of charge ] Still looking for cheaper production process...

So far in one day, this is all I've accomplished. :p My computer lags so much, its hard to get anything done. :(

Ok guys I'm done so far with the sketchup model I found on the internet. Heres the PDO and sketchup file I've created. The gun is split into multiple pieces and in halves as well.

Now I'm going to create my own version. :D
wish me luck

uuhhhhgg... Realizing my first version sucked(no surprise there) Ive scrappy the HD version, and gone to fix and reduce quality of the original. It just seems with this weapon being so big, the more detail, the more impossible it becomes. New plan: Do low rez version, harden, mold, cast, detail in cast, and then mold the detailed cast. :p things suck when ur short on the green.

Thanks. its still in its 'infant' stages, but through a couple of casts, the details will be perfect, and I will be able to sell or trade the Railgun to anyone who wants it.

I would let CNC it, the Sketchup File looks great for that, but i wouldn´t say no to a LowRes PDO^^

Lol, glad to see one of my creations become popular...ish. Ummm, to answer rsmiths question, i have no idea honestly, and if i were to price it myself, id never sell any. So to make sure im giving a fair price, i pulled two auctions on ebay and compared their prices. The Halo Assault Rifle is (currently) going for $300. And the M6G is (currently) going for $36($57 US). Based on those(cause they are the only props on eBay i could find), i will price the unwired, unpainted, solid final cast for $180. I can't wire anything to save my life, but a paint job(clean and cut or worn and used) with be an extra $50. aside from that, i have no idea on a sale scheduled for this weapon. If its popular enough in the end stages, than the price might change.

Well honestly, i only put the file out there cause no ones made one yet! :( so i popped one out so the 405th has something to tinker with. For me, its just a dummy to mold, do a full cast, go into higher detail, then mold and cast again. So anyone who wants the file, feel free to mod it any which way u see fit. :)

Ok. (im about to get way ahead of my self, and probably eat my own words, but heres some ideas) If you want a painted cast of the ACR-920 Railgun, then this is basicly what you are getting. (Base charge is $180)

It will have a more metallic shine to it
Optional:

-painted(metallic sheen)

-battle scaring is optional.

-The blue rings are optional aswell.

-A lighted version will be available later on, but will cost more. It will be trigger activate, similar to SP.laser, and will have 2.3 second timer, where the lights will light up in increasing circular motions, than a sound effect and possibly rumble action

-Hollows or solids are optional aswell.

(these are all theoretical options. they are varied to change.)

I would not suggest the laser. Those are generally bad when it comes to cons... as in, you get asked to leave.

I put one of these together about 3 months ago when the low res images were released. Once completed I realized that a static casting would NOT be practical for mine. The volume of liquid resin it would take to fill just one casting would cost me around $100 per casting & the latex for creating the mold another $400 or so. The weight would also be another issue. My rail gun weighs a ton but it looks good up on the gameroom wall.
Best of luck on your build. Ill be watching this one.

DUUUUDE! SWEEET! that is awesome and i doubt i will achieve that awesomnesss.... but the challenge is accepted. :cool Couple of questions. Did you try it in sections, what kind of materials did you use for your cast, and was it hollow or solid? If it is solid.....theres ur weight issue. I think i could seriously adapt(and by that, i mean steal. Mwahahaha) off your version. Oh yeah, if you go to youtube and look up DaFrontlineTrooper, he does awesome stuff!!! But thanks for atleast taking interest, and i hope i will be able to please. :) Stay tuned!

UPDATE
sad news, anyone who is using the current pdo and skb files, they will be out dated by election time. I'm scraping the files, and redoing the whole piece. It wont be much of a low-res work, but it will remain sectional. I'm modifying ammo ejection/injection, ammo cartridge, internal cartridge holder. There will be more add-on's, but basically watching a ton of videos frame by frame, I discovered I have missed a lot.
