So a few days ago I found out my towns comic con was in less than a month. Last year I saw all these cool cosplayers and all I had was my halo helmet. Do this year I decided that I’d actually do a full cosplay instead of just one prop. And I so thought about what I could possibly get done in such a small amount of time. Then I remembered I had already sliced a ghost mask. So I decided to do a “jeans ghost cosplay”
I went with this cause I only have to print one thing and the rest I can buy an Amazon pretty much. When I went to print this there were a couple of issues. Let me start by saying this file kinda sucks. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6171400
First of all if you try printing the version that’s pre cut, you just can’t slice it. You’re gonna have to do some sort of editing to the file but I didn’t try. So when I printed it I noticed that around the start of the nose while their like almost like a layer missing. You could say it was something with my printer but for the past week my printer (Ender 3 pro) has been working flawlessly. There was also a ton of excess plastic on really weird places that I had to cut off. I’m starting to suspect that this file was either a really bad asset rip or just made by an amateur modeler. But aside from those issues it looks good once it’s done and the proportions are actually really great. After I took of the supports it broke in the place where it looked like it skipped a layer so I went and glued it.
Now all I have to do is wait for the weather by me to clear up so I can spray it will filler primer and start applying bondo. Once that’s done I can sow it onto a balaclava I’m getting Fran Amazon along with patches and gloves for the rest of the cosplay. I still need to figure out what vest I’m gonna get. At this point I have around 17 days till the con. One more thing I want to point out before I finish this first post is that, a guest mask SHOULD NOT COVER YOUR ENTIRE FACE. For example, if you look at it next to my dr.doom mask you can see it’s much much smaller. A ghost mask should just be big enough for your eyes and a little more. I’ve seen so many cosplayers get this wrong and have the mask look huge. As you can see on the image and ghost from the game, the mask is more of a plate that covers some of his forehead, his eyes, and his nose. It shouldn’t cover the entire front of your face.
