So seeing as though no ones yet made one of these things, I thought I might be the first to give it a crack. This is one of my MANY MANY reference photos for the axe.

So far I've got the handle done.bit unscrews at the upper ringlet, and at full length, is just over 2 metres. I'm really enjoying building it as this my third free hand prop, and it's as challenging as it can be rewarding. The large blade is reinforced with some 3mm wood.
Sized it to almost life sized, but I'm telling u know it's gonna be bulky!

So I've been meaning to post progress pics, but keep forgetting to. This is the axe pretty much finished on the foamsmithing side, next is heat sealing, and then sealing the seams on it. Completely free hand and proud of it, this bad boy stands over 2.2m tall!

How are you going to do the designs on the blade?

The fact that this is all free-handed blows my mind. Truly impressive!! It looks so amazing! I can’t wait to see this completely finished.

Thanks mate, it's my third ever free hand prop. And boy has it been as challenging as it has been fun.

If your referring to the colour pattern, I'll start with spraypainting it. I've got a method were I do a base coat of red, then apply a yellow or orange, mist spray it on then recontamination in red whilst wet. That way it mixes. Then I'll probably acrylic the details on it.

Yeah sorry, can't wait to see it, it's gonna be absolutely amazing

It..... Is..... Finished.....

It's done! The Diminisher of Hope has just been completed with it last stage of black wash and silver scrub. Been so awesome doing a free hand build, just as challenging as it's fun. Let me know what you guys think of the end product. Not the greatest paintjob on the blade, but I think I'm ok with how it turned out. Lighting isn't the best but I'm too excited to wait until morning XD

Man, that is so cool! Can't wait until I get confident enough to take on a big project like this! Did you consider internal lights or no?

Thanks mate, I was originally considering make the blades from plastic and rigging up lights to make them glow and pulse. But I was really worried about how it would attach and not fall apart. It probably would have worked with some modifications, but I'll have worl up the skill for that.

And whatever you might have on your mind to try and make, judt go for it. I like to use a print out of what I'm making. Then I can adjust the size, trace it out, and transfer all the little details.

Oh, I get the concern about that. I was thinking of how I would do it when I saw your post. I can picture it, but I can't think of a good way to secure it, either.

I will. I just got into this hobby. I'm starting an ODST build. You can see any eventual progress here!
