DragonCon 2016 Parade

Hello all!

This is fast approaching! ACK! I know that some of you are working hard on your gear and might not have it ready in time to get deployed prior to the parade. For this year I'm totally cool with that. Deployment is new and I will give that leeway this year. However, if your gear is ready for deployment, please go ahead and have it submitted as soon as possible.

Do we have anyone that will be at the parade that would be willing to help people out with getting pictures for deployment? I'm thinking we could do this fairly quickly if you arrive early in the meeting spot that we had last year. For those that don't know where that is - it's on the main level of the Marriott just in front of the escalators. I'll post the time etc. closer to but let's see what we can do to arrange some photos.

For everyone with a +1, I'm going to need to have a name and what capacity they are going to be there with us. I want to be sure that all 405th costumed members get in before we start giving out wrist bands to handlers etc. Please understand that the parade gives us the bands for costumers so we have to be sure we don't fill up on handlers and not have much for people in the parade to watch.

FANGS, I have a DSLR/PowerShot camera; and will be more than willing to take pictures of anyone for their Deployment applications at Dragon*Con. (I was planning to make myself available throughout the entire weekend, working around schedules.) :)
My thought on this was to seek out anyone before/after the parade/photoshoot (if we're doing the latter?)

Thank you love, much appreciated! Do you want to take on organizing photos for a time that works well for you?

Last year we had a member with a wagon and a cooler and the most awesome on the fly repair skills - I apologize as I don't believe I ever figured out his actual screen name. Do we know if he is joining us again this year? That was beyond helpful!

Hi, I'm in both the Capitol group and the 405th. I was in the parade last year in my red armor and I'd like to march again in my new Reach armor.

Still adding some details and a bigger gun, which should all be done before dragon con. I'll apply for deployment when everything is done.

Hi everybody, long time, no see. :)

I just wanted to confirm that I'd very much like to walk with the 405th again in the Dragoncon Parade if it's not too late to register. I believe this will be my 6th year walking with the 405th in the D*con parade since the first 405th event there in 2008. My wife Jennifer will be there as well, for the first time in her own ODST costume. :D I will be bringing a revamped version of my Dutch ODST armor which I am making every conceivable improvement in preparation for my 405th Deployment Application.

Please let me know if there is any additional preparation I need to make in order to walk with the 405th again. I will keep an eye out here.

I look forward to seeing you all there and getting to meet everyone again. :)

HI Fangs,

DIN 0526, reporting for Parade Duty. I will be bringing along (+2) DogFace and ScottishLass. As mentioned before DogFace's occupation keeps him from posting here.

Here is a great a few great shots of just after the 2014 parade

"Parade Route Map! Parade launches at Peachtree Street and Linden Avenue, 10 AM sharp, Saturday, 9/3! Staging details coming in an email to participants. Shuttle information coming soon."

Alrighty folks! That's the latest information that I have for you. As soon as I get the shuttle info I'll post it all up for you.

PLEASE REMEMBER - I NEED NAMES OF ALL PEOPLE IN THE PARADE AND WE NEED TO KEEP HANDLERS DOWN TO A MINIMUM. We need the wristbands to get on the shuttle so we can't use up too many for non-member/non costumed people. We will do our best but I can assure you that the parade organizers will not be happy with me if they learn that a good chunk of our wristbands were used by non-costumers when they could have gone to other groups. Please keep this in mind.

Just to clarify for a first time parader(?) will the shuttle for the parade route be only open to those with wristbands participating in the parade?

Bucs37DK,
We need the wristbands to get on the shuttle so we can't use up too many for non-member/non costumed people.
This brings up a good question; FANGS, will we meet somewhere prior to getting on the shuttle so wristbands can be handed out?

Last year we gathered in the Marriott, passed out wristbands, and then went down to the Shuttle together.
