hey guys i'm working on an ironman mark3 suit and its coming along awesome thanks everyone for sharing those pep files. i really appreciate it.

anyways my question is what is the best way to get the flexible joints such as the abs and knees to look solid like the rest of the suit. i don't want to use a rubber because i plan on painting it and don't want it to stand out plus the paint would crack if i moved in it. i've looked at making separate plates that have gaps to promote movement but theres too much gaps. should i just forget about mobility and make the whole ab piece a solid?

You could try FlexFoam from smooth-on but you will need a mold to use it, or you could use latex or silicone and instead of spraypaint you need to use an Airbrush to paint it and you will need a plaster mold to make the latex silicone castings.

THERE ARE MILLIONS OF POSSIBILITIES!!!! :p

If you werent doing a mark 3 you couldve used the abs that move through shielding... But since its the solid piece for tha mark 3 flex foam seems like the easiest and will produce the effect you want the most.

I used flex foam-it for all my pieces... except helmet (duh) and backpack (due to time restrictions) for my ODST Spartan from last year

if you could get the different abs apart then you could put them on tracks with rivets or something kinda like this. the first ab would just have the track. then the next ab would have both a rivet and tracks for the next one. the last one would have just a rivet. now you will have abs that will be able to move but with the tracks there would be holes in it and it would look stupid. so you would need to put another ab on top of the abs with the tracks not the last one. now the second layer you will need to cut a hole where the rivets on the first layer is so that it will not mess up the track. once this is done make each ab look like its one layer(seal the seem) and your done.

but if the guy above is right than this mite not work so idk.

if i use flex foam wont the paint crack cause its not flexible. also, i heard that flex foam is porous so its hard to paint.
