Gears of war Onyx guard helmet

Good day all. So I did my first project which was the Onyx guard helmet. I wanted to size this for my son and unfortunately went too small. I still went ahead and completed it so I can get a nice warm and fuzzy feel for it.

Next one will be master chiefs helmet for my son and u hope to size that one right. After I make that one then I'll resin and bondo both.

If you have any tips please let me know. Thank you

so I've applied a layer of fiberglass resin on the outside. I made the mistake of trying to coat both helmets at the same time. I ended up with clumps if resin. what is the best way to remove these clumps?

I had the same problem happen to me when I was doing my armor. I remove my clumps when I do my bondo process. If bondo doesn't cover the clumps it comes out easily with my sander. Hope this helps.

so is one coast of resin on the outside good enough?

I usually do two. Just because some resin soaks into the paper and will feel a bit rough. Two coats makes it very glossy and smooth so I dont have to sand every spot.

Cool thank you. one more question. how do you get the most use out of your brushes? I can use mine as throwing knives

I just use cheap ones from like walmart meijers less the a buck each but u can buy acetone to soak and clean the brushes with.

I bought a bag of fifteen or something like that for $10. I didnt try and save mine so I wouldnt know. But I have heard using acetone as Methadome said.

dude I just go to Home Depot and get them in a large pack when I do that it adds up to like 50 to 80 cents a brush
