Gluing

I know that hot glue guns work best for gluing the pep pieces together.
But hot glue guns squeeze out glue in a "tube" shape so whenever i put pressure on the
two pieces (in order to attach them), they seep out of the glued flaps and it makes everything
look messy. Is there another way to apply hot glue to the flaps without "over-doing it" just like
a glue stick? Or do i just wait until it dries and rip off the excess glue?

Have a small hobby knife ready to use when you glue the pieces together, and when the glue seeps out, scrape it off real quick with the knife.

As for me though, I use tape. Almost everyone will tell you, though, that tape doesn't work. I know for a fact that it does, you just have to use it in the right way. If you want to use tape (it's alot faster than a hot glue gun), tape the outsdide with scotch tape, and reinforce it with masking tape on the inside.

Hot glue is very strong stuff, so what I do is I apply the glue in a very thin layer to prevent the mess that you're describing - It works very well for me - however if you do get the occasional glob thats making a mess you have to be willing and ready to sacrifice your fingers (I burnt myself a few times it happens its no big deal the burns are long gone now)

Hot glue is faaaaail. No offense to anyone who uses it, but I did one helmet in hot glue, and I've done every piece in super glue since. It adds way too much bulk in between the tabs, making it really hard to do those really detailed areas. And it dries too fast (yeah, even faster that super glue sometimes!) meaning I have to tear the pieces apart or print all new ones.

Super glue might give you some trouble of its own, and it takes some getting used to, but I find it easier to use overall.

Personally I prefer elmer's glue. It's cheap, accessable, and easy to apply

Hot glue is usually inaccurate and makes a mess all over your project, and super glue burned the skin off my fingers.

I am currently using Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue. You can find it at Walmart or craft stores. It sets up kinda fast but you have enough time to align your parts.

Glue sticks dont work too well, they dont bond strong enough. If you have patience use tacky glue or elmers all purpose glue.

Otherwise, just make a dab of hot glue so small, and use the metal tip of the gun to melt it if it dries too quick, it wont come out.

I personally like elmers glue best. I've tried hotglue, but it just doesn't work well enough for me. It can also be hard to get the glue gun into those hard to reach areas, and you don't have much working time.

I've used hot glue, elmers glue, and rubber cement, and I like elmers best. It's not for the impatient though.

glue seeping out... hot glue is a fail?... Hmmm... so the Two helmets I built with hot glue didn't turn out well?... I think Hot Glue is fine... My helmets testify to the ability of Hot Glue working wouldn't everyone agree.

Its all in the technique folks... you could use Aqua Net Hairspray if you knew how to use it. The point... made yet again. Tape, Hot Glue, or whatever your method is... they all can work, its all in your technique...

If you want to use hot glue and its coming out of the seams... press the glue gun to the surface and quickly drag a film onto the tab, then place onto the matching number location, and squeeze the pieces together, from the outside in, so that any excess squeezes out to the inside of the helmet... the part you never see. You must work fast though, because thing strips of hot glue harden quickly.

i see, thank you all.
Would tape hold up the pieces when i resin? I think tape would be the fastest way but I'm afraid
that it might dissolve the tape.
