Having trouble with a large design

I'm having trouble with my object since its so large it slows my computer down, so is their a way to delete the faces I don't need right now or do I have to move each part off the page cause it is all still there so my computer may freeze half way through and I don't want to deal with this if I don't have to.

As i know of, there is no way to delete the faces, nor is there a way to remove individual pieces from the 3D model itself. If you have the .obj you could separate the pieces in a 3D program like blender.
