April 2nd: 10 Days Until C2E2
Main updates for this Cosplay are that I completed the new left shoulder. I printed it at 115% and took the necessary time to paint it properly with rattle cans. It looks way better, in my opinion, and now I definitely want to repaint the rest of my armor as well.
I also reprinted the right shoulder at 120% and am currently working on post-processing it. I just put down the filler primer layer last night. I thought about just sanding down the one I have, but decided that a larger right pauldron would be nice to have anyway, so I opted to go the full replacement route.
Rigging hasn't had any work done. I am waiting on a new jacket to arrive that I want to fit everything to. Currently Amazon says that it's supposed to arrive by Friday, but since it's coming via China Post, I have no useful shipping information to confirm or deny that. If I don't have it by Sunday night I will just have to deal with the heavy wool coat I used for AMKE.
For the belt, I have some EVA foam strips that are currently being sealed with plastidip and will get painted gold this evening. Once that dries, I'll contact cement them to the perimeter of the belt. I got some sturdier rivets to lock the two belt pieces together, though I still haven't figured out how to make it adjustable while keeping the clean look.
I got another one of the green dress shirts. I keep looking at different ribbon options for potentially making the gold/red ribbon trim that the screen version has, but haven't decided on anything yet. I do still want to add the shoulder panel, either just plain velvet or the floral print that I have. I need to cut up either the current vest or the new shirt to make the pattern for the panel, since my attempt at draping it failed miserably.
I would like to repaint the wrist armor and the chest armor, but realistically the chest armor is mostly hidden by the trench coat and when I'm holding the hammer, so it's a low priority item. I might reprint the wrist armor to avoid sanding into all the crevices, though taping it for the repaint is going to be obnoxious no matter which route I go. I might split the piece up into it's objects so I can paint each piece and then glue it all together at the end instead.
I received notification of the wig shipping yesterday. It is coming from China, so it's still quite a trip. I paid extra for the faster shipping of 5-8 days, which would put the expected delivery being early to mid next week. I leave for C2E2 on Thursday in the early afternoon, so if it isn't here by Wednesday evening, I will have to wait until ACen to wear it to a Con.
I'm not going to make any updates to the hammer at this time. The broken piece will just stay broken. I might shove some glue in a few spots to help stabilize it, but that's it. Also noticed some chipped paint along the handle, I suppose I could touch that up as well. I dabbled with the idea of getting colored contacts, but I think I will save that for a future Con. I also might play around with adding some makeup to help give the animated look. Wouldn't be anything crazy, just some darkening around the nose that all of the Arcane characters seem to have. Thankfully I don't have to get as crazy with it as if I was doing the Arcane Survivor version of Jayce from an episode earlier.
