Mannequin (Manikin) Again....

hello 405th, i remember seeing another 405th armor project where the guy was making his mark 6 spartan armor out of clay, and he was using a Mannequin that was cast off his body... how is that done? link or whatever is great. thanks everybody.

there are alot of different ways to make a mannequin with your body measurements. Some more expensive and accurate than others.



A popular, cheap and pretty effective way is the duct tape method. Basically you wear clothes you dont mind ruining, wrap yourself up with duct tape and cut your clothes off. Then retape the seams you cut and stuff that with something. and BAM, dummy of you!



Another way is to take a cast of yourself. Some people use plaster bandages and get the form of themselves and make a mold/casting.



Some people use pvp and stuff their clothing while it is formed around the pvp to keep its shape.



There are other methods and explained in more detail. I just threw out a few off the top of my head that Ive seen. You can google it and get step by step explainations if there are non on this site.

how rigid is the duct tape? how would you remove the plaster off yourself?

i would use a plaster cast and basically you just shave all your hairy parts becasue the plaster will grab it and it will hurt getting it off, then just apply and you can use scissors or do it in two parts then fill it with something like expanding foam or pvc with expanding foam around it so its a bit more rigid.

for plaster cast of yourself, you have to use a mold-release agent, specifically petroleum jelly.
