1st Build MK IV with Halo Reach Scout helmet

Hey, I haven't talked here in the forums yet but I'm working on a set of 3D printed MK IV with the halo reach scout helmet (my favorite helmet) and figured I should post some progress here and try and get some activity here and figure out how the forums work

I've already made the helmet and chest but since they melted on my way to move to Arizona I'll be starting fresh, this is what I had made before the armor got the hot car treatment

R.I.P. pla
Yeah, I'm trying to print in rapid PETG but my printer is giving me some issues when it comes to bed adhesion and not ripping off, when it sticks I've noticed the lines aren't a consistent thickness so I think the nozzle might be a little clogged or something

Glad to see another Reach Scout! I'm maybe needing to redo my helmet for space purposes - what files did you use?

Yeah that's very possible. If you've figured out the inconsistent lines and it's not sticking you can always use glue or even hair spray. Just make sure you can wash the glue off.

I used Aguilar's, I'm considering switching over to Galactic Armoury's files though because I ended up just attaching the magnetic jaw permanently anyways

I forgot to update this thread since I had to put the project down for a little due to housing complications, but I did figure out how to fix all those issues, turned out I was just due for a good washing of the base plate lol, I think I'm going to start working on this project again some time in the next week or two

Ahh gotcha, that's good to hear. I look forward to more updates!

Well it's definitely been longer than a week or two since I've updated this lol, since my last update I've moved into a new apartment and finally got my printer (mostly?) running, printed out the replacement for the chest parts and have started working on sanding and priming those up, did a little test fit with some Duct tape in the meantime because I had a little bit of a scare with the helmet possibly being too large but it seems like it might work afterall (once I get a little padding in there lol)

Just realized I had part of the Duct tape packaging stuck to the chestplate when I took the photo, oops

Looking really good. Though I think that forearm has a lot of space around it - to the point were if it were mine I'd size it down and reprint.
What's your plan for under suit? For me.. I wear a morph suit so there's almost no thickness added. If you have plans for something bulkier it might not be a problem.

Thanks, yeah that photo doesn't show the forearm on me all that well, I can just comfortably get my hand slid in there, when I center my arm better in it there's about a quarter to half inch on either side of my arm so I'm gonna put a little bit of padding on it to keep it centered, if that doesn't feel good then I'll probably reprint and set it up to clamshell closed but I think it should work seeing as MK IV is a pretty bulky set as is
For the undersuit I'm going to use an under armor heatgear to try and regulate my temperature a little better, then for the upper body rig I'm planning on grabbing a plate carrier or running vest and using it as the base, using the shoulder straps it has as padding to try and keep the armor comfortable. I'll be modifying it either way, I'm also planning on being able to store a water bladder in it to help keep hydrated during long conventions and maybe even help me keep cool if I freeze it ahead of time. I'm going to attach the biceps/shoulders to the vest to hold it up and keep it from sliding much
For the lower body rig I'm going to get ahold of a battle belt and put some bags on it (kinda like CE chief or some of the reach spartans) and then hook the legs up to it to keep them held up, if the belt has a sliding issue I'll hook it up to the vest as well to make sure everything stays in place

The undersuit might be slightly bulky but I shouldn't lose out much for comfort and mobility, weight isn't a massive issue for me either because I usually wear metal medieval armor out to ren faires for hours on end so I've gotten pretty used to heavy gear for long periods of time thankfully. Even with everything I think the whole suit will weigh less than my medieval stuff thankfully
