My Mark Vi Helmet Black And Red

Hey everyone! I wanted to show off my helmet a little bit, currently it is primer gray but I will be painting it before the weekend. So here are some pics. You might see some "unique features." I tried to follow how it was made but I didn't find the pepakura reference pics until after I had finished the fiberglassing and started the bondo. I started the helmet last summer and spent forever on the fiberglass, which, was full of bubbles. I have learned though. From now on my project will be cut in half, fiberglassed, then finally fused together. I think that will eliminate a lot of my problems. Thanks for any critiques or comments.

*Edit* Only a couple of hours after posting this, my helmet got knocked off of where it was sitting and chipped. Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Thanks guys! If you look at the medium model you will see they aren't spikes.... unless you make a little mistake on the pep. :/ It wasn't a really big deal and sanding down large amount of resin by hand wasn't working. So I think they are cleaned up enough to look decent, but I have learned a lot of things not to do in the future.

Hey looks good for a first run. Of course there's always room for improvement, but good start.
I figure at this point, I can be happy with something I worked really hard or I can whine about the details. So, I will at some future date install lights and vents along the jaw line in those slots. But right now I am happy to have a finished helmet and need to get a visor. Busy pep-ing my chest anyway.

Here is the final paint job. Not exactly the effect I was going for, so next time I will used black enamel I think. I might even go with cobalt with black next time :D. I tried to go buy a visor but the store I went to was 1)a closet 2) only had one shelf and one rack 3) closed except by appointment(where is my motivation to make an appointment?). So the visor will wait, maybe until tomorrow or the weekend. The rest of the things on my to do list will wait until I feel like it.
Shapely isn't it? *sigh* so many things learned :p Here's to doing it better the next time.

Nice job! Were you able to fix the chip?

I like the paint job...the red makes it go faster, as they say :)

Ignore them, spikes are wicked :D

Looks pretty good. Though you will want to sand the depressed parts a bit to make them as smooth as the rest of the helmet. Maybe run a knife along all the little lines?

So I am trying to buy a visor and the man at the motorcycle shop says he needs a brand of helmet to work with. Anyone have ideas on what brand of visor to buy?

*Edit* I didn't see alot of y'all comments.

@Sierra720: Thanks, just a typo

@Leda & Chip475: Thanks I worked hard to line it perfectly, but the helmet is slightly warped which means the line looks a little off.

@Vexona: A little spot putty filled it in mostly and the paint hid the rest

@Yccars: I can't really sand them down anyway, too much resin and if I do I lose a part of the detail that was supposed to be sunken in. As for the flat spots I spent about 1 hour each just carving them out with my knife. Next time I need proper tools to get a proper job done :/.

Update! Finished my pep on my chest piece last Friday but only bought a respirator today. So here is the pep. I know the lower plate is askew but it is only lightly held in place at the moment. I will fix and affix it with fiberglass in the next step.

So I have started fiberglassing my chest piece, should my head fit through the hole? my neck fit fine until I completely encircled it. I was thinking that the extra would be removed, but looking at other WIP's I am unsure. Should I be trimming back around the next? For the record I split into two pieces so I will be able to get it on, just not by pulling over my head.
