Alright! Begin wall of text!
So my first post here. I’ve been creeping around here for a while, and can’t help it anymore…I need to make a suit. I've read the noob material provided above (fantastic tutorials guys).

I have convinced my buddy and my GF to also make one with me, so we have a group effort going on here. So we all were thinking for our first suits to go with a ‘named’ Spartan. Having played all the core games (1-5 + Reach) and seen most of the major released movies/shorts, the named characters just have a bit more ‘oomph’ to them over custom (Vanity) guys us. So therein lies the first dilemma for me. My buddy is a bigger guy, so he instantly leans towards Jorge-052, and my GF quite likes the look of Sarah Palmer, and possibly Vale. I on the other hand am all over the place with my choices…can’t make up my mind. There is Emile-A239 (soo cool…but the helm is a nightmare from the looks of it), Carter-A259 (semi-plain if you ask me), Frederic-104 and pretty much everyone else lol. I would like to do ‘Chief too, but I’m not sure I want to be the 3000th+ chief… and it would be hard to stand up to some of the suits on here :p so maybe you guys/gals can help me out a bit on this? Pro/cons for all the suits? Vale vs Palmer? (if it helps, she kinda does look like Palmer haha)

So! Onto what I have tried first. I printed off just a random file found in the downloads here to get my hands dirty. I chose the Mk V (maybe VI) hand back plate to start. First, it’s one sheet of card stock (old manilla stuff i found in my closet…gonna pick up new white 110lb), and it has some small cuts, but not too many parts. I didn’t scale anything, just grab and go. Obviously I learned a few things along the way, noticed a few things on the .pdo file later (small gaps on the sides that I tried to ‘close’ when gluing) and just getting the hand of it. But I am no stranger to time being spent hunched over a project. Those of you who recognize the cut mat will understand ;)

So here is what I ended up with.

Not sure why my hand looks like a lobster here...

Let me know what you think! Good or bad!

I modelled that file, so I'm already happy to see that it's being used. Construction looks fairly good, and the few minor errors can certainly be fixed with some bondo down the line.

Also, you're wearing it back-to-front on your hand, you may want to rotate it :p

Perfect thanks :) really easy file to use by the way. Oh question. Anyway to increase the line weight? It was hard to make out the valley vs mountain lines.

As to the orientation haha I figured it might be. Took a stab at it...

How is the sizing? I didn't changed anything to start. It looks a tad big to me. Once armoured up though...who knows.
