so do we have any good explinations of the markings on the rear/side of the ODST markings?

im thinking it has to do with battalion/assignment stuff.. but thats purely speculation

I`ll present a theory that kind of make sense to me. It`s a way to identify one`s helmet. After all, at one point there are probably a lot of ODSTs out there and when the helmets are together, you'd want to have a way to identify yours. A little like the fighter pilots are customizing their own helmets. That`s my theory and I`m sticking to it like a plasma grenade.

I think this is the most logical theory, but those marking look a bit small to be specification related. Probably something to do with the manufacturing.

its coming along good but there should bu=e more detail to the face plates design the inward dents seem to give the real feeling of ODST

from my experience in the military. Our helmets are usually unmarked when you get em. So yeah to differentiate yours from the other guys helmets, you tend to personalize them . Tactical colors of course and nothing too outlandish. However, in the case of ODSTs who aren't exactly camouflaged i guess the colours dont matter cept maybe that you wouldn't wanna paint a red circle on your forehead or something if ya know what i mean. lol

from personal military experience, we usually mark our own helmets... I saw another guy that said this earlier but yeah... we usually put our name/rank on there, some people can get away with adding a few extra things to theirs as long as it's small and in good taste. Modern day though, US Army puts rank on the front, name either on the front or back and their company/battalion/regiment on the side. I haven't noticed anything but name/rank on the USMC helmets and the USAF puts name/rank/service branch on ours. Don't know what the Navy does or if they mark theirs.
