Salutations all,

I am planning on making an ODST costume, and I would like some advice from those who have already made the helmet.

My previous efforts have demonstrated that helmet visors can fog up rather quickly (Jen Taylor mentioned that she thought she would pass out while wearing one of my helmets) and so I would like to impliment a fan system into them, using CPU fans and some small battery packs. Ideally, I would like to have two fans in the helmet, one that brings in air and one that expells air, and hopefully a current of it going across the area in front of the mouth and nose. The intent here is to keep the air moving so moisture does not have a chance to build up and start condensing. With a Mjolnir helmet the placement of such devices is a bit more obvious, since it has clear air vents on the front of the helmet. However, with an ODST helmet this proves a bit more troublesome since there is no clear vents on it.

I am thinking of putting each fan and associated battery pack around the sides, one by each cheek, and using the forward facing optics or lights or whatever they are on the side of the helmet as vents for the fans, but I am unsure how I can quite place them to make that. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Your stickin the fans on the side that have that pop out part? OR near the front of the helmet near mouth peice?

at least 3 places you can stick the fan to reduce fogging the visor, you would either:

-On the two sticking out parts on the helmet, 1 in each of them
-At the front of the helmet near the mouth peice is
-other (basically anywhere around the helmet)

Ill just show you on paint real quickly.

I hope this helps you in some way

Another thing you could do is that with the ODST helmet, where the top of the visor meets the brim of the helmet, there is that overlapping.....thing. What I have considered doing is cutting a small slit to allow air flow with a small fan. I have heard of people doing this in the past and I thought it might work, heat rises I guess.
