Plus Size Fatigue/BDUs

Has anyone had luck with finding plus size fatigues or BDUs? I'm currently using a matching Under Armor heat gear set for my ODST which is working fine but I would eventually like to qualify for a Tier 2. I've tried army/navy surplus, uniform websites and 5.11 store. I've been able to find a black tactical gear top that I can adjust to fit but struggle finding pants. I can hem pants just fine but have trouble finding ones that fit my proportions. I'm a 5'3" female, I wear a size 20 pant typically (although it varies from store to store).

When I search Amazon with `XXL BDU` there's a host of different types and brands. On even claim up to 7xl.

In the past I have ordered 3 different pairs from different vendors and none were true to size. I was hoping someone in the community might have a sure fire vendor they’ve used. Worst case I could order a bunch of pants and see what works. I appreciate you looking.

Its probably a reasonable assumption that most military-adjacent clothing is made around the military/paramilitary physical fitness readiness standards. If someone falls too far outside of those regulations they tend to fall outside the customer demographic and then it gets expensive to inventory for just a handful of sales per year.

Have you considered a "Big & Tall" shop since they specialize in plus size clothing? You said you could hem the length if you can find a pair that fit otherwise.

Of course you can always buy a nice camo material at any fabric store along with a suitable cargo pant sewing pattern and make them.

5’2 currently size 14(?) in pants. I went through a similar “adventure” (ie: suffering) when looking for pants for my halo 3 marine. Most tactical clothing was not true to size or fit really weird like the waist would fit but the legs/crotch was way too long. I ended up getting a basic pant pattern and picked up some camo cotton at Joann’s and made the marine pants. Granted they weren’t the best but they worked for what I needed them for.

Later on I ended up finding a pair of pants, in the wrong pattern though, at a Ross they were labeled as joggers but had that tactical look/fit. For another convention I ended up using just a black pair of boot cut jeans from Nine West which have that fitted but not exercise pant fitted look. They are also not 100% Jean material so they have some stretch which is really nice for comfort.

Finding a pair of black jeans and adding the pockets or details might be another possible route.
