I used to have that background as my wallpaper XD. Did you draw in the marine, or were you experimenting with shading and repositioning?

Edit: Ahh... just found the standalone marine concept art... still, you've got the shading spot on and the two images go well together considering one was more like a painting, and the other was more cell-shaded. Good job!

I did not draw the marine, i got it from here .Yep i was experimenting with cutting, flipping, transparency. All that good stuff.

I used to find editing CSS class battlecruisers and covvie Assault Carriers over landscapes to be pretty fun. Perspective and lighting were pretty hard to get realistic though, and photo/cgi never quite looked right
