Hello again after a very long time....

Many have wondered where did I go? I wanted to get back into the fun and games of cosplay and gaming but it was very difficult for me after being treated so badly at several comic con events. It was heart breaking to take the time to go and be ready and pumped only to be faced with opposition and cold shoulders. Though this didn't happen at the Anaheim event in 2019 it did in the Sac Anime Expo and the Sac Comic Cons of 2020. These were not our members but other cosplayers and halo fan groups I saw at these events.

I guess you could say the last straw was at my local Con where a "literal" bag lady won first prize for the costume contest and I watched as a grown man dressed as an unknown anime character shoved children out of his way so he could get the toy he wanted from a booth. There were a small group of hard core cosplayers there that hung out and all were extremely disappointed in what happened that day. None of us have ever returned, that Con has now disbanded and I haven't seen any of them since then.

So you can understand why I sort of stepped away. My work has also been ramped up greatly but I would like to try again. The costume has sat in its box unopened since Summer of 2020. Upon my returning I have read some things that surprised me. Fangs has stepped down and left?? Many other members have walked away as well and its sad. With that said I hope to put the suit back on here soon and try to come back to it. My love and devotion to Halo and what it has always meant to me will never fade. I hope to see some of you online, maybe we can play for a time. Its good to be back and though I am here we can safely say that I am semi-retired lol.

Thanks,

BadKitty

I get it. I won't do "audience judged" where hooting determines the winner.
Story:
Mid 1990's... Las Vegas... Massive Halloween at one of the clubs. I watched a guy with at least $10k in Transformer costume with cameras all around so he could see out, etc. Just amazing costume. He got beat out by a busty co-ed wearing a fur bikini and kat ears and a tail because she did a bump & grind etc.
So yeah - totally get the feeling of watching shyte costumes win out over real cosplayers.
Welcome back & have fun!

Welcome back!

I will say that there are sometimes a darker side to communities or groups, which is unfortunate because they should be safe space in most circumstances. I have been in quite a few communities, been to different types of cons and outings, and I can tell you that there are always a few bad apples in the crowed, but you can't let it get you down. I will say that being a lady at some cons is a nightmare in itself! Despite that; go have fun, dress the way you want (as long as it is appropriate) and meet the people you WANT to spend time with who give you the same amount of respect. And remember; you can like or dress up in a cosplay without participating in that "community" if it's giving you a bad vibe. I've certainly done that before, and I will continue to do so!

Kind regards,
