Hey 405th,

just finished pepping myself a Rogue Helmet..

Took me 4 damn days!

But I'm pleased with the results, the folds seem to be clean and there isn't much warping.

Going to start resining and glassing when I have some new brushes (Resin hardened 4 that I've already used),

or tomorrow if my dad can get ahold of some Acetone.

Anyway heres some pictures!

(as you can see I detailed it out with a dry marker from boredom xD)

Tell me what you guys think,

Cheers,

Awesome, although if there is a higher detail model than that, you should re-pep that model. This seems a bit low detail.

Looks good to me. I have tried the acetone to clean my brushes, but it doesn't all come off and doesn't seem to be worth the time. The brushes are all hard and worthless.

Thanks, and I know, I looked at some of the reference pictures and thought the same.

Unfortunately there isn't any other pep files available =/

Lets just hope my skills with a dremel hold up! :lol

Kinda all I can do though tbh. Theres not many places around my area that sell loads of brushes for a cheap price, plus because of the recession prices have rose to stupid amounts. Guess I'll have to deal with partially hard brushes, or make myself a sponge brush :D

wow lookin good ^^ i'm dreading getting to my helmet. i'm doing that an the chest piece last. after i'm done with the limbs i'm doing the butt armor, but im' kinda scared of making the helmet an chest pieces an REALLY messing it up, specially since they are such big pieces that take time. but i'll HAVE to get to it once i'm finished with these pieces.

keep it up though! can't wait to see it finished! an good luck with cleanin out those brushes.. i've tried.. it's HAAAARD (no pun intended. XD)

No pun intended, but it was a good one anyway xD

Cheers dude, and it really isn't that hard to be honest, you've got to take into account that big pieces have big parts, so its just like doing any other piece except the parts are a lot bigger. So don't be dreading it too much :p

Thanks again,

I think it's too late once they've fully hardened, I could be wrong but I think if you want to save them you need to give them an acetone bath right after using them :/

no problem, that's what we're here for, encouragement... and questions.... and praise...... and reference.. and yeah, there's a lot, but encouragement is a big one

Back again 405th,

sorry I haven't been updating recently,

Windows decided to die on me... AGAIN. So I'm running Ubuntu from now on.

Anyway I've got my helmet resined and glassed, here's the pictures :D

Only 3/4 fibreglassed, gonna finish it off and show some pictures soon.

Also a question about the Bondo stage, at what point do I apply Primer?

Cheers again guys,

You should apply the primer once you think you're relatively happy with the smoothing you've done. It's basically just so you can get everything one solid color and see where the imperfections are. I mean, besides when you use it to actually start painting...

Looking good so far. I have seen that you solved your brush problem with two sticks and a sponge lol.

Thank you very much :D

50p sponge ripped in half and 2 chopsticks taped together actually :lol

It works, very well as well I must say :D

Cheers again,

Looks great. Also I agree with Samuray. The primer will bring out any imperfections and also fill in any small scratches.

This helmet looks like it will turn out really well. Keep it up and take your time. Work in small areas at a time.
