BOOTS
Spartans are tall. To me this kind of cosplay project is about storytelling, and the suspension of disbelief when you see Chief turn a corner and stand above a crowd.
That being said, I first wanted to solve the issue of wearable, comfortable lift boots to achieve (close) to Chief’s real world height, and more importantly, to provide an accurate ratio for armor scaling.
The base boots I am using here are from CALTO, a maker of elevator boots for medical / health applications. We commonly use these kinds of lift shoes in filmmaking, for creature suits, or to make petite actors like Tom cruise appear taller next to their costars.
These are the tallest elevator boots they make, giving me a ridiculous 5.2” of added height, hidden within a relatively unassuming profile. The make quality is excellent, and they are super comfortable considering the effect they achieve.
With the 5.2” provided by the base boots, additional height from a custom footpad (tbd) and the vertical spacing inside my helmet, I expect to stand somewhere between 6’8” and 6’10” when in full armor.
Like em most of the parts of my build, these printed will be used as mold masters for other, more durable, final materials. Likely a hard urethane rubber for these boot shells.

Admittedly a little pricey, but TIME V MONEY and the days I would have spent making my own lifts, this seemed like the way to go.
