Is it Really so hard for Microsoft to bugtest their updates before pushing them?

two things should be noted here:

1. My copy of Windows IS genuine and paid for.

2. Not only did this Update break a bunch of genuine copies, but it also was optional, so the maybe 10% of OS Piraters who had automatic updates turned on had their systems broken. The other 90% didn't update, and thus, Didn't get broken.

So, this is the latest DRM Screw-up I suppose. First Ubisoft, Now this? What's going on here?!

For those who want to block it and haven't updated it, it's update KB971033. Tell Windows to Skip it, then hide it, in the windows Update screen.

thanks for the warning since this pc is the only computer i have that can do what i need to and it will probably be fixed in the next 24 hours

I got the same thing, all you have to do is uninstall that update and hide it and you should be fine.

I got my copy of Windows 7 about 2 months ago, luckily , it works like heaven. Way better than Vista ever has done, Vista must have been the biggest fail Microsoft has done.

Hope things will work out for you!

Yeah, I've got absolutely no complaints about my 7 comp either. Been working like a dream, even since I was running the beta.

Personally, I love 7, but I don't like DRM (I'm a mamber of the Pirate Party, a political movement for DRM-Free media), and this is a shining example of why. All the piraters don't update, and those of us who legitimately own windows get broken by the update. The only people who suffer from DRM are the people who buy it legally.

But other than this, I've had no complaints about Windows 7.

I haven't bought Windows 7 simply because I don't want to pay 200-something dollars for what is essentially an update of Vista. I haven't had any problems with Vista besides compatibility problems that are easily solved with the XP Compatibility mode.

I hate DRM with a passion, though. That's why I tend not to buy SecuROM-infested games and instead opt for SecuROM-free versions of said games. I think DRM may have stopped approximately 0.2 piracy attempts since its creation. Also why I don't update to 7.

7 is a bit more than just a "update" to Windows Vista. Vista is sucking up ALOT of your computer speed and power. I built several computers, and now before I upgraded to Vista about one month ago, I was thinking about buying a new set of computer parts, turns out I didnt have too. Now, I can play for example Modern Warfare 2 at really high graphic settnings, and my computer starts at 3x less the time. Beside that, it looks alot better, it does'nt crash every time I turn on the computer.

And no, I do not work for Microsoft :D

All the best,
