My two cents, and I'll both tread lightly, and for personal reasons not get into too much detail.
I was critical of the size of the Midwest Reg from the beginning, it's too large. A Battalion for MI, IN and OH is reasonable. I think for organization, Midwest Regiment should've been North/South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska, and a Great Lakes Regiment for Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. A 3 state battalion for the reasons stated by others in favor is a reasonable compromise. It seems that the three states have capable people that can be trusted to make good decisions for the region, making any additional work for Regimental leadership minimal at best. It's a tall ask for someone in the Dakotas to try and participate with events in OH.
TL : DR I support the idea of the Battalion for OH, MI and IN.
