Right guys and girls, thanks to the following post, I had a sleepless night because deep down inside, I knew I did a crappy job painting this thing, and it just felt wrong!!!:

Really nice. The weathering is a bit ehh but the quality of the rest cancels that out. Overall, good job.

Anyways, due to my lack of sleep, I went around the internet looking for painting guides, and couldnt find anything like what I wanted (really beaten up). I even searched stormtrooper forums etc, but nothing great. So I went about and just worked out my own way. Its taken about 5 hours of work to get it looking how I wanted it, so please let me know what you think. Ill post the photos here, and in the last post, just so you can see!

So yeah, over all, im happy with it. Theres some bits on the back id prefer to have changed, but meh. One thing though, my crappy camera doesn't do the colors justice!

thanks for viewing!

Hey all, ive been away for a few weeks, but Rube had shipped me a lovely raw pull, which I have been cutting apart and painting for the last week or so.

Also, don't think theres a scrape on the visor, its just some glue from the glue gun i forgot to remove before i took photos.

What I am stuck on it the internals, as even with no pads in at all, the visor fogs up quite fast. As you can see, ive wired up a mini fan which fits in quite nicely. I'm just wondering what to use as padding in order to allow airflow around the helmet. I was wondering if mich helmet pads would do, because they would also allow airflow. Any opinions?

Gray car primer, them matte black car paint, then dry brushed with a metalic paint. I also cut and scraped the helmet before painting, and so the dents and scratches you see in silver are actually real scratches too, not just painted on. I still feel like ODST should be written somewhere but ah well, i dont think it is on the weta vertion?

It doesn't need to be a straight up WETA version, but if that is what you want your style to be..

I might put ODST or 405th on that one small flat back side.

I didn't think we were allowed to put 405th on anything so ive just kept it off. Although if love to have the emblem on the helmet.

Im just going to keep it weta style for now. Ill make some armor matching the game models afterwards though.

Damn! That 220V power in England really lets you smoke some power tools!

Helmet looks good though.

Well if anyone has some better ideas for the weathering ill happily re do it!

Also yes rube, eye pro and a respirator were a must lol.

Sorry to double post:

Wow, looking amazing mate! With that paint job, I'd say you have gone through hell and back. (or you just jumped through an EMP wave and played through on legendary.) [chuckle]

Cheers!

Thanks! Military gear is basically my daily life, testing it out etc. The thing i LOVE about what Weta did to the ODST design is incredible really, because the design of it is actually very practical, someone at Weta really does know that they are doing when it comes to body armor etc, and at bungie obviously too. Thats why I am working on the Weta idea, and not the game idea just yet. And as we all know, ODSTs are usually deep in the SHTF situations! So I really want this to look grubby as hell!

Yeah, I took a couple photos while holding a scarf over my face and then ran inside. There were plastic particles floating everywhere!

I really like the new silver areas you put on your helmet but, I don't like the white powder thats become engulfed by your helmet.

Ah, that would be to make it look muddy, its more brown though really, it could be your screen set up or the camera. looks ok on mine though.

pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease make a video tutorial on how to apply this battle damaged look onto molded armor!!
