So I was trying to look through what is left of the file archive to see if there is any Titanfall 2 files and I see this add...

What the hell is this? What has the 405th become? For god sakes their are members who aren't even pass 12, there are some members who share accounts with their kids. I joined when I was 15 and now I'm alost 20 and there wasn't anything like this when I joined, there weren't even adds. This kind of stuff makes my glad I just stick to my regiments Facebook page because everytime I log on it seend like the 405th I knew is just a distant memory.
(I would like to add that if this post is removed because I used the word "hell" that it is completely hypocritical consider you're allowing click bait adds that are boarder line pornography to be on the site.)

I agree. This just isn't the place for this kind of stuff. I had a similar add about 2 days ago. I x'ed it out, and clicked it as inappropriate. Hopefully there is something that can be done.?

FlusherCape26 I appreciate your passionate desire to protect our younger members from inappropriate content. However, at this time, I do not think the Movie Propr Sites Web Development or Business teams have to pre-approve all ads before they appear on this page, because I can assure you, if they did, this sort of ad would not have appeared at all.

Art Andrews can probably provide more insight as to the algorithms used to generate the ads, or what policies Movie Prop Sites has in place to the content of the advertising allowed on their pages, but I feel very confident saying this time of advertisement would not be allowed if they knew about it.

At the current moment I would recommend taking SavedByGrace's advice and selecting it as "inappropriate" while Art and his team look into this advertiser.

Fact-check: Our minimum requirement for membership is 13.

Beyond that, the ad server we use largely looks at YOUR browser history and cookies and tries to match its ads to what is believes YOU to be interested. You are far more responsible for the ads you see than we are. I don't see ads like that at all. Mine show Amazon and eBay and the things I browse most... so perhaps you would like to step off your soapbox and look at your own actions instead of making inaccurate accusations about us purposefully creating "clickbait."

This is the correct approach to these concerns. With the way the adserver works, it is supposed to "learn" when you mark an ad as inappropriate and limit those type of ads that are served to you. In the past, we have seen some truly nasty ads from time to time and have made an effort to block them (sometimes it works and sometimes not), but more often than not, they are already taken down by others before we get to them.

That's quite interesting considering my history mainly consist of looking for new guns, furniture and bookcases, 3D Printers, Wikipedia searches for DC comic characters, browsing Saber Forge's store, buying plane tickets, a taming calculators for the game Ark, meme's, and looking up Clone Wars Era Star ship models on Goggle. There isn't any anime searches on my phone and the only I anime watch (Sword Art Online), I watch on Netflix on my Xbox. So either your system doesn't work or I need to start seeing some Remington ads up their. What I wonder is if other members will appreciate knowing that the ads generator on the forum just goes through all their browser history. Also Art, Fact Check children lie about what age they are all the time, why do you think there are 10 years olds playing Grand Theft Auto.

FlusherCape26, most websites show personalized adds. Facebook, even more, showing you dozen of personalized ones.
You said you watch Netflix on Xbox, maybe you search all those things on PC. You posted a mobile screenshot.
Also, I don't see any adds at all.
Then again - you can do nothing about kids lying with their age. Excuse me, those same kids make accounts on porn sites, play games they shouldn't. Yet, they lie about the age and use those things.

For CommanderPalmer, I don't get ads on my PC, but I do on my phone just like FlusherCape26. Mine are from Amazon, which makes sense since I do a lot of price comparisons on Amazon on my phone.

As far as what your getting FlusherCape26, I can tell you that the reason your getting that ad is because you have searched for comic characters and video game stuff. The algorithms they use to generate those ads are going to take those two details, mix it with whatever other parameters it needs, and probably compare it with similar search patterns from other individuals, and generate that ad based on that data. It's nothing about what you searched for specifically. It's just what a computer "thinks" you would be most interested in. And unfortunately, Noonien Soong hasn't built Data yet, so no computer can really think.

Logged out, I just loaded the site to check out and see if I get ads. I could see from FlusherCape26's screenshot it was on a phone, so I checked on mine. I don't get them when I'm logged in on my phone.

This edit is on my phone, and this is what i saw before I logged into the site.

Perfect. That is how it should be functioning. Full members shouldn't see ads when they are logged in.
