why is there a cluster of pieces in the 2d pepakura file?

This is my first time making a suit and using foam and Papakura. When I download the files for some Noble armor the paper part shows some of the pieces and then will have a big cluster of other pieces on the top. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

what you are seeing here is the unused parts of the original 3d model.

When building with foam there are sometimes tiny height differences between one part and another. and this height difference is usually accomplished by varying the height of the foam when it is glued together.

but in a pure pepakura build these "parts" are naturally included in the 2d space.

This is also why you can have a large amount of part overlap across several pages in the 2d space. the 2d space is simply a stencil for the foam and not the complete 3d file "unfolded."
