Regiment membership - please all read

FANGS

Commanding Officer
Community Staff
Division Staff
I'm noticing a great deal of people who qualify to be part of a Regiment (ie: Type B Membership with 50 posts and 90 days) but have not yet been added.

Please take a moment to let us know here if you wish to be added and we'll get that taken care of for you.

So, what is a Regiment?

The 405th is more than an online community, we also work to connect Halo cosplayers in Real Life through our local “Regiments” which allow members to meet other people in their area who share their passions. Basically, a Regiment is a locally organized chapter of the wider 405th. The local Regiments are designed to allow people to meet, get to know, and work with other Halo Cosplayers in their area. These local Regiments provide a sense of Identity and Community to members and give them a space to call their own.

Additionally, the 405th participates in many events around the globe, from Game Releases, Conventions, and even Minor League Baseball games, and these Local Regiments allow us to professionally organize these events, look out for our members in attendance at these events, and put forward the best face for both the 405th and the Halo Franchise as a whole.

What does it take to join a regiment?

Membership in a regiment is an entirely voluntary process. The Armory (The New File Archive) and all sections of the Forum, except for the local regiment sections, are open to any Registered Forum Member. You do not need to join a Regiment to download files, post in the costume creation sections, or show off your build.

However, if a member decides to take the next step and join a regiment and get more involved with local fellow 405th members, they must first make sure that their account is more than 90 days old and that they have over 50 posts. This demonstrates that the member is committed to actively participating with the 405th Organization. Once a member has 50 posts on an account that is over 90 days old, they then post in this thread and request to be added to their local Regiment.

The Regimental Membership Officer, or RMO, for that Regiment is responsible for checking this thread and confirming that the member meets the requirements and belongs in their Regiment. At that time the local RMO will then give the go ahead in a special thread in the Regimental Command Staff Section for the member to be added to the Regiment.

How do you know which Regiment is your local regiment?

The current Regiments are:
Australia – Covering Australia
Canadian – Covering Canada
Colonial – Covering Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont
European – Covering Europe including the British Isles and ending at the Russian border.
Midwest -Covering Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin
Mountain – Covering Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
New Zealand – Covering New Zealand
Pacific – Covering California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii
Southern – Covering Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Southwest – Covering Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Regimiento de Mexico: Mexico, Central America and South America - (Cubriendo México, América Central y América del sur)
Singapore - Covering Singapore

(Additional, 4-2-2017)
I posted in this thread, but I am still not in a Regiment. What do I do?

If you have not heard back from your Local RMO after posting on this thread, your first step should be to contact them. If you do not hear back from your local RMO, the next step should be to contact your local RCO. If your local RCO does not respond to you, then you should bring it to the attention of Division Staff Member, such as FANGS or Cadet and we will look into the issue.

Do understand that all Division and Regimental Officers are only volunteers doing this in their free time, and real life issues may distract them and keep them away from the Forum from time to time.

This should be my 50th post so I'm going to go ahead and say Midwest please. When my 90 days are done as well of course.

Since my move to the US is now confirmed, I'd like to formally request my transfer from the European Regiment to the Southern Regiment. I expect to be serving the Regiment by early March, mid-March at the latest.

Xan Ives - congrats on almost having your ODST completed! I'm sure Colonial will be pleased to have you, but we need to adhere to the 50 posts and 90 day rule. If you haven't already, I would suggest starting a build thread about your ODST gear. I'm sure it will help other newcomers greatly!

Indeed you have! Access to Midwest granted! Be sure to introduce yourself to your new Regiment and if you haven't already, join the Group and Page for the Midwest Reg on Facebook. And thank you for the appreciation. It means a lot!

Ugh that's not the way to do things people. The whole point of this minimum is to get people contributing positively to the community. We want to know that you are here to stay and help build the community.

If you take a look at all of my posts previous to today, every single one of them was either showing something I made, giving useful advice and feedback on other people's builds, or answering important questions asked by newcomers or inexperienced cosplayers. Just because I don't comment "Nice" or "Good Job!" or spend time socializing off-topic in build threads doesn't mean I'm not invested in the community.

The reason I'm trying to hurry through the membership requirements is because I want to get invested in my Regiment, and it turns out to be super frustrating, when I have a Halo-specific cosplay that I have worn to cons, I live in the area the regiment pertains to, am an active member on the forums and have been for the last 6 months, and the only reason I can't post in a certain place is because I'm naturally quiet and I only speak when I have something of value to share. I may not post a lot, but when I do, I make sure every single one of them serves a valid purpose and is constructive to the community.

Fangs, I was just busting Xan Ives's chops. All of his posts were of a supportive and contributing nature w/ LOADS of positivity towards every posting. Not one "single word" posting for the day. I know.....I read every single one of them. Posting that is......not that each one was one word.......I'm making this as clear as mud.......

@FANGS,

Aha, this seems to be the right place.

So hoping I didn't insult or generally p*ss off too many people, I'm looking for entry into the European Regiment IF they want to have me. :)
Only figured out today the reason I couldn't post anything in the "New Recruit" section was because I wasn't a "New Recruit" anymore.
Took me half an hour to figure out that one. :lol

@Dirtdives

You're NOT helping the man ! :)

Hello FANGS, I would also like to be added to a regiment if at all possible. I am seeking entry to the southwest regiment as I am stationed in New Mexico. Not sure if it matters but my spartan suit is nearly 30% done.

Hello all,

From this point forward, once you post your request here to join a Regiment, you will be contacted by the Regiment Membership Officer. Once they have been in contact, they will advise me that you are to be added to the Regiment and I will take care of that in the database. This is really a function of starting off with that direct contact to the Regiment and so the Regiment knows they have new incomers.

Please do not go directly to the RMO. Posting here allows all Command to see your request and we can assist where necessary

Thanks!
