4Shared help

I'm so mad I've had to start this, but I really have no clue what I'm doing, and I'm not even sure where to look for the help.

I've already watched some tutorial videos but what I'm seeing is different from what I'm getting.

So I go to 4shared, have the file I want. Click Priority download and it downloads a thing, then wants to install 4shared desktop setup, or suchlike.

Or there's A grey download button next to "share with friends" that takes me to two options, but when I try to free download the timer doesn't start and it's asking me to sign in.

So I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. Am I supposed to be making a 4shared account? I'm sorry I've even had to ask, but I'm totally at a loss here.

In order to download anything from 4shared, you have to have an account. It's a relatively recent requirement that 4shared came up with to cut down on the amount of viruses that they have to deal with. So, pick or make an email address that you don't mind using for online accounts, sign up for an account on 4shared, and start downloading.

Also, you should not be clicking on the "priority download" button (the blue one). Rather, click on the regular "download" button above it (the grey one). That grey button will lead you to the actual download page. Once there, cick on the grey "Free Download" button that thas the 20 second countdown above it.
