Unfortunately photobucket won't let me upload the wip pics of either of those, but if you're interested in seeing them they're on my Instagram @roshprops
thanks, and I'll post more as they come

I haven't molded it yet, but after pcc I may make a run of them. I'll make it known if I'm going to mold it here, on Facebook and on my Instagram @roshprops. Thanks for the encouragement, it sometimes seems like this forum is a ghost town these days and any reply is motivating.

Sure hope not since I just joined a few weeks back……

The level of detail you're using is amazing, patience is something I wish I had more of. Especially when it comes to smoothing… Keep it up!

I need to get back into using forums as I usually only post on my main art gallery(on a furry art site no less) and forget to post elsewhere.

Amazing build.

How did you build the vacformer?
What was the process of painting your visor? It looks really good. Iv been out of the loop on new ways to build and paint, so I'm sorry if its a silly question.

Very nice, although I am kinda skeptical as to having magnets in the back of the helmet, had the same idea myself.
Would that cause health problems in the long run? I would love to know this lol

That's an interesting thought about health effects of magnets on the brain- Ive never heard of any definitive proof of long term effects of magnets in close proximity to the brain. That being said, I've never looked into it either.

Luckily for for me, that portion of the helmet is somewhat removed from my skull. They are probably 3 or more inches from my skull when it's being worn. You can see in this pic of my profile how long the back of this bucket is

The visor isn't quite as opaque as it could be, but because of the huge dome, I'm not sure it ever will be without losing all visibility.
Which brings me to the next answer on the paint job: I stressed on how I wanted to do it, and in the game, Emile's visor actually changes colors and reflectivity depending on what cut scene/part of the game/promo shot he's in. Almost all my reference pics showed a visor that wasn't mirrored, but was instead an almost matte gold color as seen in this pic:

I tried airbrushing different colors! and considered dying the visor with rit and then using alclad chrome paint or krylon looking glass. After I had my first successful pull I went out to the garage and searched my spare paints to try different things on scrap and trash visors. I started with airbrush metallic paints, they looked pretty but there was little to no visibility. After trying 3 or 4 combos, I dug through my paint bin and found some krylon metallic gold that I've had since my first master chief build (in 2008!) I sprayed it on, and then backed it with looking glass. The results were perfect. I made another pass on another scrap visor to be sure. Still perfect. I grabbed my only successful pull and went to work. I am pleased with the looks, but after PCC when times not so tight I may make a few other visors using different techniques to see what else I can do.

In other news, I ordered a clonetrooper neck seal from darman on the clonetroopers.net boards and it's perfect. He's a low quality pic of me wearing it and checking the scale of my shoulders

next up up is a new chest, and forearms. Also, this week I'm going to head over to roxyroo's and sew up some undersuit so I'm not just rocking under armor with this bad boy. Thanks for watching guys, I appreciate the questions and any feedback.

Looking good! But my question is how are you planning to make the skull in the visor? Cause I would love to see how you do it.

Oh yea, that's right I didn't answer that one yet.

First idea, vinyl decal. I've never really liked the skull on the visor, so vinyl means I can remove it when I get tired of it. I'll just farm it out to a local company to be printed and cut, there are enough natural lines and cuts in the skull design that if I have to cut darts out of it to make it fit, it won't look weird.

Second idea: straight up paint that bad boy on there. I learned to draw by emulating comic books, so copying art by hand is my forte. I'd much rather make vinyl and save myself the time and effort, but we will see.

Honestly, it's my least favorite aspect of Emile (though by far the most recognizable) so if it doesn't get don't before PCC, you won't hear me crying.

And then, I'll just be fist full of arrows emile- he had a smooth visor at the beginning of that.

If you haven't read it, I can't recommend it enough. The art is beautiful and it shows more of noble team being awesome. Plus, it's available online to read for free!

Couldn't you just make two visors, one with the skull carved in and one without the skull? You could make them switchable, and then you'd have better accuracy and you could choose to have the skull or not.

This build's looking great nonetheless!

Excellent work on this entire build. I really like the shoulder attachment and the helmet. Not sure if you've thought of this or not, but you can use one of your scrap visors you've successfully painted, and wet sand the outside lightly with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper to see if it will dull down the exterior to make it look a little more like the in game shots. Just a thought. Either way though, it looks killer! :D

I'm typing on my iPad, and that's a pain so I'm just going to post a ton of pictures.
