What?

What's stopping anyone from forming their own websites? Just how much control do you think we'd have over that anyways? This discussion is purely about the club, and ADDITIONAL THINGS, that will become part of the club.. not a clsoure of what you're currently accessing.
Why not tell us why 16 looks good to you?

I know but someone said before me that the kids should start their own site/club and that isnt what we want here, we WANT to include everyone in it... im trying to express unity. But i say 15 or 16 as well. Thats all.

Please keep in mind if you throw everyone that is under 18 into a new site with no one experienced enough to run a site, maintain it, and or have resources to properly run it theres no way it will last. And like I said before you will be eliminating more then 85% of the fan club and it will fall apart from there. There be now way possible to organize anything if you have 1 spartan in every state.

That could happen whether they make the cut off age 18 or not.

Anyways I've thrown my opinion in so there ya go. No offense to the kids here, I was one less than 10 years ago, so I know how it is, but I think 18 should be the cut off. I have no other reasons for the cut off other than legally. I could care less if we have 15 year old kids in the infantry. I can only imagine all the stuff Adam and the others are having to discuss but frankly this all is becoming a major PITA.

I think you underestimate the numbers of the above 18 year old spartans, and least in the "active" community. While I have no problem with a lower age, I think it's more about the way you act on the forum. The people that necro topics for fun, don't search topics first or read stickies before posting question, and the rude or childish, should be the main focus of carving out the deadwood so to speak. The bad news with this is that the majority of these people are an average age of 13-17. I support the idea of an age limit, but for those that act older then there could be exceptions. I have 13 year olds on my friends list and see them contributing, yet remember whatever happens is for the good of the group.

We the powers to be are NOT looking to cut lose the kids. Please do not revolt till you have some thing to revolt ageist.
I for one is for keeping the kids in the Costume Club part of the 405. (THE COS PLAY part) The boards should not change for the kids at all.

Most people who make cardboard armor have only 20-30 dollars or less to spend, that is because they are too young to work and earn money. They use cheap supplies. Those who make pepakura armor may not be the best sculptors and may also be low on cash, but still have 100-200 dollars to shell out. Then there are those who will spend 300-400+ dollars for a pep suit and make it look godly.

I'll be honest, at most, I've browsed this, not a lot more (sorry I'm skiing at telluride and I don't ski without a flask or two, so my attention spam is a bit limmited). But why are we even saying "if legality is not an issue". Isn't legality kind of the biggest issue in forming a group like this? I mean I could be wrong, but if we can't pass the legality issue, is there any point in worryng about anything else? Sorry if I'm wrong and out of line, but I really feel like legality is the most important issue here. It's kind of hard to progress if we can't at least cover the legality issue...

edit: I just proofread and realized I said issue way too many times, but after a flask or two of Jim beam black, I'll be honest, I don't care enough to fix it right now.. Please ignore my terrible paragraphy writing skillz... maybe I'll fix it later.

This is what I was thinking as well hehe. I've been dealing with lawyers recently myself and it's not cheap to draft up even the simplest of documents (good lawyers can range from $100-300/hr or more). Now, someone may have a lawyer friend that is feeling charitable (that'd be super haha) but I think the cost of these documents would present a significant road block to incorporating minors in an official way.

Unofficially, I think people under 18 could show up to conventions and hang out with the other members so long as they don't try to represent or imply they are full members at that time.

16 is legal.
FYI, most folks here are discussing the 405th in America, and our age for adulthood is '18' :)

16 is legal in what aspect?.... thats an awfully broad statement.

We are working on the legal thing too.

"16 legal" not in the bars I go to...

There are other clubs that have kids in them we need to see how it works in there first

We have not got to that yet in the planing yet so we have time.

Look stuff up to help me set a low age and have some thing to take to the table to back it up.
If your under 18 now is the time to get the info to me . Fight for your right to COS-play.

Rob has a good point though, why don't we wait to see what happens due to the fact that complaining and debating doesn't help until or unless there is outlined something about age to start restricting age groups. The goal of the powers that be are to benefit the fans, not to try and "pick on" or "leave out" a group due to age, belief, or other. I'm sure that what will be the best to build the group up will be done. The best plan I see for now is that if you are worried that your age group will be left out make armor, help out, and obey the forum the way it is now. Show people that you are a team player, and that goes for everyone in any age group too.

I bet a set of hands that I am the oldest one on in the 405 to date at 42 years old.

but yeah I was shooting for that...

Do NOT sit by on this; Look stuff up on other clubs and see how they do it. I am over 18 but would like to help. It is your fight so step up. If you do not it will get a passing vote and as they say Timmy your OUT live the runway.
18 or 21 or 16 it is up to you to do something, not talking but doing.

I am shooting for 12 with a consent form for the year.

Who can help me out and find some examples on this?

My mom's a lawyer and she would not charge anything ;)

I personnaly go for 16. I'm 16, I got a job, getting 50$ a day and I will soon receive my driving license.

If we send the kids to another forum, we will lack of veteran propers.

I personnaly don't know a lot of great propers under 18.

I'm 15, just turned 15 on the seventh, and I kinda agree with the 18 and up rule, but some younger members should be allowed. Let me explain...

1). Most high school kids that are 15/16 are VERY immature, at least at my school, but if us younger members could prove our maturity is that of a normal 18 year old, then why not allow us to be in?

2). Halo is a "M" rated game, which means 18 and up, not sure what the government thinks, but as far s I know as long as we have our parent's consent, if you are under 18, you can still play Halo, so why does dressing up as a Spartan make any difference?

3). The whole <21 with >21 thing is just silly, we're cosplayers, not pedophiles, so why should we even think that is an issue?

4). Age cut-off at 15 or 16 completely, even if they can prove they are mature, 16 is more reasonable, but some 15 year olds (myself included) are mature enough to be allowed.

I'm not saying all 15/16 year olds are immature, but to be safe, make it OFFICIALLY 18, but allow those that can prove their maturity to be allowed in. Of course, under 13 should not in any circumstance, because you have to be at least 13 to even join the site, it's a law!

This is just my quickly put into words my thoughts on the matter...

I have to agree. I think people of like 15/16 should be allowed by their contribution.

This is for the Cos-Play 405 NOT the 405 Forum. The Forum is the forum and shout NOT change

the age for the 405 Com-play Club is what is at stake.
:rolleyes
