Alright, This is how it works around here.

I can't believe that he basically belittled the mods in a topic created by a mod to show the rules. What a nub. I feel like when the 405th gets started, we'll have a lot more respect because many of us will be able to meet and know who we're talking to. Some people can fling insults on forums because they can hide behind their keyboard in their parents house with no consequences.

Banhammer rules. Use it. Please!
I love this. Best topic in existence.
+1 to Doom and all mods for their hard work.

Well said guys.

I have to heavily agree with doom on one aspect. The lack of proper grammar on any forums is enough to drive one quite out of their mind.

I can understand a lol, rofl, or wtf here and there, but the complete and utter lack of intelligence to the average post on the internet is just plain ridiculous.

Here's the way I see this one. We are a group dedicated to the model and imitation of a military soldier, a Spartan. The Mods are, in some way shape and form, our Drill Sergeants. They are most certainly our leaders on this site. In our outside lives, they aren't. We can't go throughout our day wondering what the Admins and Mods of the 405th would think of our actions. We can be as mean and nasty as we like.

However, the moment we click the link, or type it in, for this forum site, we adhere to their rules. We are required to follow a certain code of honor, and respect the opinions and thoughts of our fellow Spartans. We can disagree, but in a civil manner. This is what's known as a debate. What has been occurring, and what I have tried to not become a part of, is squabbling. This site isn't Xbox Live, and we need to realize this. When a new member does something rude or inconsiderate, instead of lashing out at them in an equally brash manner we need to just tell them "hey, we don't do that here".

I think I've kind of slipped into RA mode here, so I'll quit while I'm ahead. What I basically mean to say is that here, we're family. Doom, Sean, and all the other admins are the parent figures, with Adam being the big daddy. Of course he doesn't rumble... or try to kill us (often). And then who would be the little sister? Hmm... I'll have to mull that one over.

BEHAVE!

and if and when some of us join the 405th what we say may not only ban us, but it may disqualify us from the 405th  . not happening for me.

Thanks for cracking down guys. The forums were especially getting crowded with "I know the information is in the stickies but I'm too lazy to read them posts"

I'll take this to heart. Now that I think about it, my grammer has been going downhill lately..

It's great that these are some of the most positive, civil, and honest forums on the internet. And I'm glad you all do so much work to keep us that way.

Yes it does, however it applies more to some then others. You still have to follow whats in the thread. A individual dosn't get immunity.

Im quite literally overjoyed to see this in effect.
I had actually stopped reading the old forums because of all the leet kiddies.

Doom said that things were better so now.. Im back..:D

Nice post Doom. I for one love these forums because of the awesome individuals who not only participate in it, but also take time to help others (aka mods and others), but some members do slightly take away from the professionalism that this forum so greatly conveys.

How about this,
make it a part of the sign in,
put two or three images & the comments on each page
have a number of confirms down the page (hidden in with the text?)
require all confirms to be checked before the continue button activates
have it as one of the requirements for confirmation for membership

1) Registration
2) e-mail confirmation
3) required reading

This could be done while they wait for their e-mails
make sure that they are aware that it is a requirement

hey doom, great topic, we all really need to bump it up, me included, we need to be the best community we can be.

Hey I'm just wondering, i think there is a setting or a mod that makes it so you cant double post, i know we are trying to make people improve but i think it would be in the best interest of the community if we could enable that setting, its one less thing we all have to worry about, including mods and administrators, maybe even a spell checker would be good but I am just throwing that out there

Heres an idea on bungie.net sometimes when you try to double post a window pops up and it says Please Wait The post has already been submitted and you click ok.

Yeah, you are right, this place has just exploded... It's massive now and ever growing. It's crazy what can happen when you have a site which is based around a popular subject that hasn't been made yet.

Back on topic though...

To all those that are telling me I should Pin this or make it an annoucmeant in all forums... I rather leave it here for now because nobody ever reads annoucmeants or stickys first... they always scroll to the main forum and click a topic that looks good. Espcially the ones with more post's/pages. I am not telling you guys to post like mad in here... but I may update this thread with more things and bump it.

If it does fall off to the second page or just near the bottom of this page, its always good to bump it with a CONSTRUCTIVE post.

Thanks, and I am glad you guys like this thread. It's actually seeming to clean up the forum a bit and I can't express how glad I would be if you guys could just follow the guidelines in this thread.

Now I am off to warn a person for pointless postings...

-Doom
