Armor Quality rules

maybe you didnt read a few posts up but they said if Bungi gives us green they could probably help us convince MS.

if they deny us well have to bring a puppy to them and put a sign on it saying "pretty please let us start the 405th, PLEEEEASE." and then make the puppy sad so it does the sad puppy face thing. no one can deny a sad puppy.

i think we might not have any problems...the logo doesnt have any halo or master chief on it, the name of our group doesnt have halo on it, the 405th is from the books i believe

Yeah, it should be no problem. As long as there's no fee to join. It'd have to non-profit. Microsoft should be smart and know that it's pretty smart to have such nice, free publicity. Maybe even have members of the 405th escort Bill Gates around, kinda like the 501st does with good ol' George.

No, if you get permission, like Red vs. Blue, you can charge. Red vs. Blue charges for their machinima made by Halo and Halo 2, normally, this would be a copyright violation and would result in RvB being disbanded, but RvB has special permission to use Halo by Bungie and Microsoft.
If we get permission, we can do pretty much whatever we want. (Well, within Microsoft's terms, of course)

well it is easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

There would be some type of fee to run things, (membership cards, site admin etc) so unless they'd offer to donate those resources, there would be a fee for membership.

There will need to be a judging panel for armor quality. It also probably will hurt people's feelings at some points (mine especially :cry1:)

Then again, they accept "donations" so you can get the episodes earlier...

Just point that out.

*hint hint*

Even still, they have permission. You have to pay, it's no donation. You become a sponsor, I know because i'm an RvB sponsor, lol.

Well I was getting at the concept that the 405th could get permission to recieve donations :Steve: .

And charge fees for gear and such things :lindsey: ...

Donations are not illegal. We could do that now, which we are. *note the donation bar*

for the judging panel, there should be a person(or two) that have made armor different ways. I.E. Adam, link, Sean, and bluerealm for molding, some people for papercraft. and i think to be in the 405th you need a weapon

I Haven't seen this answered anywhere soes, can we have a UNCS marine type costume, IE marine fatigues in halo 1, and still be able to be a part of the 405th, or do we have to have armor?

It seems like it's going to be ANY character, good or bad, aas long as the costume is accurate. Like, I am making Halo 1 armor and as long as it looks the same as in the game, I am eligible.

But on a side note, I really think we need two divisions. One for bad guys, one for good. And maybe have it so you can only be in one. We can get a sort of friendly rivalry going. With that, it would make it a lot of fun to organize things like paintballing and picnics and such. (I know that the 501st does these things cuz I used to be on the mailing list of the Midwest Garrison.)

Just my 2 cents.

One thought about "not getting ahead of yourselves." It may be possible that while you are seeking approval from Bungie/Microsoft that they will want to know more about the grand scope of things. If they start asking questions and we say "Well, we haven't really worked that out yet," it may look like we don't have our ducks in a row. I don't think it would necessarily be detrimental to work out even the most minute details as long as there isn't a financial cost involved. (I.e. talking out how armor judging works on the forums.) Sure in the end it may be a waste of time, but it may also be the driving factor to push the companies towards being convinced that the 405th has their sh*t together.

Just a thought.
