One thing I cannot stress enough, add some lights to the underside of your lid. HCS 24 this year we had minimal to zero backstage lighting, which meant going through crates by cellphone light or flashlights. A strip of cheap LED lighting with a battery pack is more than sufficient to illuminate the crate.

For my crate, I'm using a 63gal rolling Stanley crate. Its massively oversized for airplanes, but it suffices for transport by truck. I'm able to fit my entire ODST suit in here, including helmet and my shotgun. Collapsible handle, wheels, waterproof gasket, I'm pretty happy with it. Gonna be adding a few more graphics on the outside and an info card inside...

How do you guys determine what numbers/letters go on the bin? Is it the markings of the armor or just random things that look cool?

Some of it is design, while the S-### is your 405th deployment number. Once you deploy your first suit of armor you will get a deployment number. In Skid’s case his designation is S-728.

this is a great thread, thank you!! I'm always stressed about traveling with costumes.
i have flown between Toronto and LA a few times with prop guns in my checked luggage with no issues. i bubble wrapped them and taped a note explaining what they were with screenshots for reference. I'd also recommend airtags or something similar for peace of mind lol

100%. I have airtags in all my luggage. Its tremendous when the counter person says "I can't seem to locate your last bag" and you can reply

Yes I use airtags as well. Gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing I can track my totes myself.
