So, anyone here looking forward to black mesa source? It's at http://www.blackmesasource.com/. I have portal and hope to download this when it comes out.

i remember hearing something about it a while back but it had a different name. many people wanted it to be black mesa and thus it is. this is a complete and total remake and build on the original black mesa geame and it was good back then and now it looks awesome!

Yeah I have been following this for... 2 years??? anyways it looks great and at least they have a trailer now. really can't wait. I have all of the half life games from hl2 and newer and I have always wanted to get the back story

personally i like having the main character voiceless as it allows me to use my imagination
i personnaly thin of GF as a tough guy with a gravelly voice and not some bubbly scientist
so is black mesa source a remake of halflife 1 or a prequl to it?

It's a remake with the Orange Box Engine I'm pretty sure.

yup remake of half life 1, sorry for the confusion I made, what I should have said was: I have played hl2 and its episodes as well as portal and want to play half life 1 (preferably free )

The Source engine w/ the most recent tweaks, yeah.

I remember following the Black Mesa threads a while back. People on their forum are really mean. Didn't like 'em at all.

But the project itself seems sound enough, and I grew up on the original Half Life, GoldSource engine and all. This should be a nice tribute for me to enjoy!

And with a 2009 release date, who can't not look forward to it?

fps meaning First Person Shooter, or Frames Per Second? if its the second then it depends on the PC, if the first then well... depends on the person

Honestly, I have never heard anyone say that HL2 was the greatest FPS, but thats another thread.

i have been following Black Mesa Source since they first had screen shots of it. It has taken way to long to come out.

im surprized at the complexity of the level design from the old levels to now. and i cant wait for it to come out. the original game i didnt understand much and when hl2 came out i was still confused. so this remake will clear up alot of information that has left the hl community in the dark for so long.

My only hope is that it'll live up to the original. New flashy graphics and motions are great and all, but I've yet to see a game that compared to that of what Valve did in 1998. Not even Halo (any of 'em) beat it.

I would say that its the most modded and most manipulate-able, makes it great for mods just like this, and the source engine is host to countless games. however the graphics are not THE best and the models are not spectacular nor is the engine the greatest.

Well, this isn't made by Valve, it's just utilizing the Source engine.

Also, it's no longer known as Black Mesa: Source, just Black Mesa. Vavle didn't want anyone to think that they were making this, so they had to change the name.
