Convince me not to. Mk6 1st build

ok so shin/knee pic with "tighter cloths" (just removed the pants because i don't have tight cloths). and then i added my thigh reference and sizing straps.

My goal is to print both the lower portions of the thigh in 1 print and both the upper parts in 1. less blue filler and bondo.

What do you all think?
The shins look better! Plenty of room for padding so it doesn’t shift around. Even with the lil bit of knee showing, gotta remember you’re going to be walking around in this, so keeping the joints a bit more open isn’t a bad idea!

Currently working on printing the lower thigh piece.

i still dont understand the boots and how they come together or how to size them.

i got the thighs and forarms sized in armor smith last night.

Currently i am thinking of doing a very dark forest green color and have the wife paint of Viking binding Sigle's.

this is my idea of what ones to use

and this is kinda where im thinking of putting them.

Here is a good build thread specifically about Moe's Mark VI.

The Mark VI boot covers are essentially three pieces, the Toe Cap, the Bridge or lace cover, and the back/heel. Moe's files should be broken down like this:

As for how to scale them, you will need to decide on what base shoe you are going to use first, and then scale them around the size of that shoe or boot. Keep in mind this may result in some different scaling for the boot than the rest of your pieces, meaning you will most likely have to scale the boot pieces to a larger scale than the rest of the armor to comfortable fit around your chosen foot wear.

Ok so thick boy boots are to be expected. i do have my armor smith set to my foot setting with my perfered shoe on. and it does look kinda of weird.

thank you for the guide i will read it over.

This is exactly what i needed. the velcor between the parts and the shoe so you can take it off seems perfect.

I got the upper high piece for my left leg printed last night. didnt use any supports so the undersides of edges need some work but the seem is almost non existent (not sure why its there in some areas and not others) im extremally happy with how this came out. so far i have my entire left left printed except for the boots.

im thinking of doing some filler primer and then sanding a bit. with .16 layer heights its super smooth all ready.

Shin and thigh peice for my left leg are.all printed. I am unable to put them on as I dont own any ofnmy undersuit so I have nothing tight enough to fit. I will be getting compression pants and knee pads.

Do i need to extend the toe? Does this look like it covers enough? My knee pads and compression pants are arriving today so i should be able to try all the leg peices on today.

Got my compression pants and knee pads. If I calculate my times properly should be able to have my right leg done in 3days.

Right boot heel right now, right upper high tonight, right boot toe or right lower thigh tomorrow. That will be the majority of the lower body printed in 2 weeks.

Currently it's to cold and life is a bit to busy to think about permanently joining everything. Also havnt picked out my.binding method yet.

The toe cap does seem a little undersized in that image. This might be a case where non uniform scaling can help. Perhaps scaling the toe cap piece to a larger size than the heel and lace cover might help. You can always pad out the inside with some scrap foam to help it fit snug to your base shoe.

What part need scaled differently? It's currently L122xW122xH102 scale from default. My thought was it may need to be longer (cover back more on my foot). But over all it actually fits on my shoe ok.

We scaled down the height on all the foot peices becuase it seemed to close to the shin.

One of the tricky things about the boot covers is that they are in fact covers and not the boots themselves. This means that you may find they will only fit nicely over your shoes if they are slightly chunkier than you think they should be. Take for example my first suit which was a chief mk6. Even though I made the boots from foam I think this still applies; the covers will have to be a bit bigger to fit over the shoe. This will also help minimize the amount of the shoe that is visible in that gap between the front and back pieces of the boot. Here's a picture of the boots I made:

I think in your case, you may find that the covers fit over the shoe nicer if you increased the scale of all three pieces. I can see from the picture that the covers don't quite bridge your foot entirely, and the gap between the pieces it a bit long. I think the heel and ankle pieces should be larger to fully bridge your shoe, and the toe should be increased to match, perhaps even enlarged ever so slightly more. Hopefully this will shorten the space between the pieces while keeping the look uniform.

Just for giggles, I enlarged them in photoshop to see what they might look like. I increased the back pieces to 105% and the toe to 110%. I'm not sure they need to increase THAT much, but somewhere in the middle I think there's a sweet spot. I'm curious to see what other people think.

lmk if this helps of if I made it worse lol

Your editing skills are truly lovley. yea enlarging the toe does look better. that and the lace cover are the easiest for me to enlarge. I cant make the heel any taller or i lose mobility and it start to run into the shin (will see if i can get pics tonight sense i ahve my under gear). I have made the tall longer and made the lace cover come forward mode. I am planning on getting elastic for the top of the shoe.

I also have a print for "nasa fabric" nasa fabric by Carter Hurdman | Download free STL model | Printables.com i was thinking of seeing if i could use some of this to fill in gaps in places.

These really helped correct my mind space on this project. I have really been fluxuating between excited an depressed about this. I definitally have some imposter syndrom over this.

But This LOOKS AWSOME

its not even glued togehre primed or painted and i feel like over all it looks really good. i am already working on printing the right leg stuff.

Few fixes I'm going my thigh pieces are way to tight and hard to get on and off. I am expanding them by about .5 inches left and right. The wife is worried the calf is to large but I cant make it smaller and still be able to get my foot through. I am making the toe cover and the lace cover longer so they cover more shoe.

Sense last post i have printed the entire right thigh and shin. i am currently working on the boot toe (extended to cover more of my shoe. and my other printer is printing the hand covers

in the next 5 hours i will be done printing 23/57 pieces of the mk 6

besides the compression pants. What do you put in the areas that aren't covered by armor? like the knee, groin, and armpits? do you have anything asides from the under armor? currently I'm kind of cold in just the under armor (i imagine that will change with foam added inside the armor and stuff though).

I know that everyone has a slight variation on what their "undersuit" ends up being.

But believe me you won't stay cold once you have been in armor for 30 minutes.

I wear a t-shirt and gym shorts under my Morphsuit, and the last time I wore it (2.5 hours) I was a steaming mess.

I have gone without the shirt and shorts before but it is very easy for me to feel overly exposed with just undergarments and the Morphsuit.

If you eventually take the next step for the undersuit of actually sewing something specific, then that will often be more than enough to keep you warm as well.

OOOO i didnt even think or this part. yeaaaa itll be a wile before i can convice the wife to start/help with that.

so cloths, knee/body padding, compression cloathing, (potentially a morph suit later).

got it thank you.
