Hey! Hey! Hey! What is up everyone? I recently joined this community after wishing I could wear one of the incredible cosplay suits I've seen for years. I've never done something like this before, but I'm really lucky that there exists so many tutorials and methods to create what I want. (especially in this community too, I've looked at so many different tutorials already lol) After a couple weeks of researching and testing out my 3d printer, I'm happy to announce the start of my first build! As the title states, I'll be making my very own MKVII armor set complete with customizable shoulder mounts, all 3D printed of course. (ngl, the spine might be out of foam but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it) Additionally, my weapon of choice will be the VK Commando (pictures will be shown later :)) Should I complete the project, I hope to create a tutorial explaining all the steps I took, but that's me jumping the gun a bit.

Now on to the armor
I'll be using mostly all free models, the ones that are can be found here
However, I'm sure a lot of yall already know of the index, but I'll put it here for anyone that isn't aware of the massive work that people have done to offer these to everyone. The armor will be the base MKVII Core, with a left Commando Pauldron and a right Operator/CQB Pauldron (I am having a really hard time deciding between the two, let me know what you guys think) for the utility, I will attach the Model 52 Navy Knife (by TurboCharizard) to my left thigh piece. Also, the knee pads will either be the MKVII, CQB, or FJ/Para kneepads, I'm still deciding. My helmet of choice will be the Morrigan helmet from the Rakashasa Core, these files are sold online on Etsy if anyone wants to do the same.

I bought armorsmith last week, and have been tinkering with the scaling of the armor and here is what I have so far

Current Armor Set.png

I won't be making the armor red, that's just to make it contrast with the white body. This is also by no means the finished scaling of the armor, I'll probably tinker with it for a bit longer. The helmet shown is the Fred 104 helmet from the free index as a place holder as it's very similar to the morrigan helmet. Additionally, you can see on the left side the two different shoulders that I could be using, Here's a closer look.
Possible Shoulder Peices.png

They're pretty similar so I'm really on the fence here. The CQB shoulder may be sized a bit larger if I do choose it, the STL was pretty small when I imported it in. Also, in terms of scaling, I don't really have any collision problems at the moment, except in the crotch area. Before I imported in the files, I set up a handful of different poses so I could easily see where I might have problems.

Now, I doubt I'll have to be running while I'm wearing the suit, but some mobility will be nice, the main problem that may arise is when I have to sit down, which I would like to be able to do. Does anyone have an idea of what I should do to try to fix this? Much thanks in advance. Now as for the armor coating itself, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. I am currently looking at around 29 different coatings from Halo Infinite, it really comes down to if I want black armor with a different color for an accent, or a desert/tan look (as I currently live in the desert) I would love to hear your guys's opinions on what your favorite camos are. I'm basically thinking of doing something like the three below

Sorry about the weird photo sizes, I pulled these from the internet.

As for the VK Commando I mentioned, that one is actually 98% printed (I say 98% because I think I missed one or two of the parts I had to print twice, but I will figure that out when I start to put it together. As for the coating I'm also still figuring that out. Also, if anyone want to see all the pieces I've printed for the commando, here they are

I was really impressed with the quality that these came out with, I can't wait to put my printer through its paces with the armor.

Well that's all I have for now! I'll be sure to update this as I progress, I have a lot of work to do (well, my printer does :p) but I'm excited to get into the thick of it. Wish me luck!
