My first Master Chief armor Build

Hello to all, this was my first armor build. While it might look fine on the out side the rigging I used to hold the legs up were absolutely horrible and very painful. Most of this was made when I had time in between work or school. I had to rush a bit at the end but I think it still turned out great. Here's a few photos to document the best thing I've made so far.

Bondo
I sadly didn't take any pictures for any of the armor being printed out but I got a ton of all the bondoing.

Didn't get a chance to tell you in person but your suit looks GREAT!!! Congratulations on finishing a super cool build.

The armor looks great!! How is it I missed another Master Chief at Megacon?

What was your rigging like for your legs? Have you found a new way you would like to do it?
Thanks so much! I use velcro to hold the legs up but it turns out that adhesive velcro does not stick to cloth very well. I also had sponges as cushions to help hold the armor in place but it wasn't enough. I'm trying make straps that attach to the legs and go over the shoulders kind of like overalls so that the legs don't sang down anymore.

Yeah the straps is what I do and its honestly amazing. I do cross body to keep them in place, the only thing I would recommend with that method is to make sure there's no exposed skin on your neck because the straps WILL rub and any amount of walking will turn into crazy rug burns

Thanks for the tip, I didn't think of the straps giving a rug burn so this will definitely save me a lot of pain.

So it sounds like we all had the same idea here. The Thighs have overall straps to hold everything up. This is what I did the first time, but let me tell you it was painful. Anytime I moved my legs I would get a rope burn form the friction.
My recommendation is to do what N8TEBB did! I made a harness similar to his and man was it 10x better than my original straps. Below is the link to the video I used of his to make it. It links to the time he shows it off but if you go back in the video you can see how to make it.

The last Con I was at put it to the test and found some improvements I want to attempt. My next enhancement for the straps would be adding Backpack straps for my shoulders. Even though the rubbing stopped I started to feel the weight after having it on for about 5 hours.

Dang I just bought all the stuff the make the overall straps. Hope I can still use the stuff to make the harness. Anyway thanks hope this finally fixes the problem.

The suit looks amazing! Paint, weathering, and proportions all look spot on!

I finished my first suit in October and it was extremely painful to wear, so I get it lol. Bunch of pinch points and other things I didn’t know about, still working on fixing those. But for the harness I used a climbing safety harness. I got the idea from another guy on here, Draxes. He has an amazing build thread. (I’d tag him but I don’t know how). I do think he ended up changing what he used, I can’t remember but I like the harness and made it work so I can put my leg pieces on like pants.

Then I glued a strap to the inside of the thigh piece, attached a clip, and attached the other side to the side of the harness to hold up the thighs and calves. Distributes the weight nicely!

Thanks spartan appreciate it. I just started building my own harness which I highly recommend bc it makes it so much easier to get everything to line up perfectly. Definitely could have saved a lot of time if I just got a climbing harness. Thanks for the tip, I'll probably use that for a future build.
