I started working on a Armor a while back but failed miserably when I tried using papier machê (or how to spell it) to strengthen the helmet.

The helmet will be made in Pepakura/resin etc...
while the rest will be made in foam.

I didn't have a printer that could print on cardstock, but my art teacher in school let me use the class printer which could handle 180 g/m2 paper which I know, isn't enough.
But I tried anyway and went with the Mark VI: High Detail parts, the one FLYINGSQUIRL made.
I forgot the edge ID but went forward with it anyway. THis was the result:

After using papier machê it looked terrible so I threw it out and made a new helmet.
Here it is:
eFF994ihl.jpg

but ofcourse I was dumb again and used 80 g/m2 paper...
Apart from that I made the height on the helmet 350mm and it was way too big.(I used resin on it anyhow, just to learn how to use resin... Used too little hardener and it never dried... so I threw it out)
I changed the scale to 310mm and sent the files to a company so they could print it for me. it cost a bit, but it was ok.

Almost done with the pepping:

Now that I live in sweden, some materials have other names etc, but I managed to find what I needed and started with the resining

Done with resin:

Inside view (I know. I'm terrible at fiberglassing)

I never really understood what Acetone did, except from being used to wash resin off my hands with and to wash the brush with... I head someone said it was for thinning the resin?
BnmZLsdl.jpg

Anyhow. after some hours of drying I Spent some time on making some padding for the helmet:
xsLhccel.jpg

It hasn't been glued on yet. I'll take it out to add wiring, visor etc...

On Monday, me and my dad will be going to a mechanic nearby who's friend of my dad, and ask if he has any bodyfiller(BONDO) that I could get. otherwise we'll go buy some.

Here's a picture with me wearing it. :cool

Can someone tell me if It's too big? I really hope it isn't. together with the rest of the armor it'll probably look better.

You got resin on your hand?

Sorry for the double post. I thought I was editing my post above but my computer didn't think that was ok.

Yeah. hopefully with the rest, it'll look more normal :/
Yes. Unfortunately I did... my gloves broke and I had to take them off and wash my hands.
Don't worry about the double post

Ok, I added the tube things on the side of the helmet, picture will be there tomorrow after I've been to the mechanic to get some Body Filler (BONDO)

ok, the mechanic wasn't there last Monday, so we went Tuesday and he was there :D
I got a container with fine padding
0jOe7Lll.jpg

Started mixing it and putting it on the helmet:

after sanding a bit:

I know it needs more sanding, but that'll wait for tomorrow:

I also have to use some more resin unfortunately...
something cracked on the helmet. a bit hard to see, but it's there. probably invisible after body filler.

I also added the ventilation tubes(Or how to call them)

I don't have any more Body Filler unfortunately... The one I got was almost empty. I didn't think I would need that much :/ this one had like 300grams left or so.. how much more do you think I'll need?

ok. so untill I get some more body filler I'll work on something else.
I made this forearm some weeks ago,

bQUQ67Fl.jpg

It was mostly just for testing, so that I could improve my skills.
after this, I started on the chestplate.
ATmMSPQl.jpg

still not done though, having some problems with it :/ i forgot to mark the different parts so now I have a lot of small pieces that I don't know what to do with...

I downloaded some different pepakura files, tomorrow I'll change them to work on foam and print them o

You can download foam MK VI files from here:

http://www.therpf.com/f24/halo-spartan-mark-vi-foam-files-complete-armour-files-130172/

The files are much smoother and more suited for foam. Hope I could help! Good job so far!

:O I asked around for this files and I couldn't find it via google.(It hink the website was down earlier)
Thanks! :D even though I started work of the shins today. almost done with the left one :)

Definitely go with these files, they're much smoother and easier to use.

But good job so far.

Thanks :)

Where did you get the tube for the front of the helmet?

I had an old tube from a washing machine laying around in my basement, I asked my dad if I could take it. cut it out, spray painted it and glued it on :D
after adding it I realized that I probably should have sanded it before painting it. the paint fell off :/

Ok. so I scaled most of the parts and started working on the left shin. after some time I was done.

I know that it's probably not the best work, but it'll do.

I'll ask my dads friend if I can borrow some more body filler some time. in the meanwhile. I can make the left shin and print out all the paper from the other parts. :)
