Halo 5: Asset Releases

Quick update, though I'm unsure you coild call it that.

I've a lot if things happening recently - I'm writing this from a seat on a train to London, to have a medical examination for my visa. With everything that's been going on with that and the move to a new apartment, as well as being knocked for six by a cold, work on these files has slowed down considerably. I do apologise for the delay, and I'll do everything in my power to make up for it as soon as I'm able.

Yes and no. It's the HD model, with subsurf modifiers applied to increase the file smoothness and resolution.

Well thats simple enough. Only one problem, I don't have any of the HD files. Whenever you have time if ya don't mind shooting me a pm with the HD files, that be awesome!

The files are in the Archive, under the Halo 5 Guardians section. I'm confused as to how you haven't found them yourself by now; most of the files have been up for weeks already.

Here's what I did. Downloaded just the Copperhead variant as shown by Serin. Imported the file into Daz then switched the mesh to be viewed in wireframe. It looked to be in MD. Mesh still had alot of triangles. Unless, Serin switched from tris to quads before applying the subdivision modifier. Correct me if I'm wrong. And surely I have no problems finding the files, sorry for any confusion. Also, aside from the mesh being HD, are the textures hd also?

Quick question and I apologize if this has already been answered. However I searched and didn't see it anywhere. Are the only armors being added to the archive the multiplayer versions? Will anyone be doing the armor from the main characters of the game (specifically Locke?)

The only armour I'm currently unable to obtain will be the variant worn by the Master Chief in the campaign. Otherwise, all multiplayer variants will be available - and that does include the variants worn by Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris. If it's in multiplayer, it'll be uploaded.

Just to clarify that does include locke's primary armor from the main campaign?

Also I'm getting started with 3D modeling and producing objects to be 3D printed. Is there anything I can do to help you or the group?

I always work in quads, its just a good practice to get into, also makes subD'ing cleaner. Probably also did some modification of the topology somewhere, just can't remember where specifically.
The textures are decidedly not high def, they're only 1024 x 1024. Oh and to answer your other PM question - its just Blender's cycles engine.

Right, folks. Update time for you all.

After a bit of a break - both for the sake of my sanity and for getting Important Things done (moving house, having the medical for my visa) - I've gotten back on with the job and have plugged out eight entire sets of armour. This brings the count currently to fifty-seven out of seventy-eight total armour sets, which is good progress.

I'll be re-working the first post of this thread to deal with some FAQs, as well. I'm hoping that, with a fair wind and the time and willingness to actually sit down and get on with things, I should have the vast majority of these sets done within the next four weeks. After that, I can focus more on refining the sets and the content.

Thanks again, all, for being (mostly) patient with me.

EDIT: first post has been revised to feature current, up-to-date information and FAQs.

Looks like things are coming along ! Moving is a pain....

Are there plans to get assets at any time of non playable chars?

Peter.

Read the first post:

Q: Why can I only see armour assets, and not weapon/vehicle assets in the Archive?
A: At this time, I'm unable to access general assets - this means that, for the time being, the only raw assets I'll be providing are going to be Spartan armour assets ONLY.

I am aware you cant now due to tech issues .

what I was asking is If you do find a way are there plans to do them too.

Assuming I have the means to do something, then yes, of course, I'll do it. I'd like to see some of the new weaponry models and perhaps obtain some of the custom armour undersuits, yes - however, I'd appreciate attention being focused onto what I can currently do, rather than what I can't.

Update for 30/12/2015, and potentially the final update for this thread of 2015:

I've further edited the first post to clarify which armour sets still require processing and uploading. I've also uploaded several sets to the Archive, and I'm really hoping that 2016 sees an increase in the number of builds of sets featured in Halo 5.

Whatever your building plans are in 2016, I hope that they bring you success and joy. Good luck, Spartans, and here's to a decent year for us all.

Chernobyl,

I had a question for you since you have been handling all the unfolds / rips. I opened the hunter armor file that was provided in the archive.(thanks again for all your hard work) I noticed some parts of the armor are not included and I was curious why. I see the helmet, chest, forearm, and thigh pieces. However I didn't see anything for the abs/torso section in both the front and back. I was just wondering if you could explain why that is or how i might go about getting those extra sections.

As I've explained in the first post of this thread, all assets are focused around multiplayer armour sets - if it's not available from the Customisation menu of Halo 5, I'm going to be unable to extract it. This means that unique, custom Campaign undersuits - specifically the Fireteam Osiris - won't be available.

Essentially: if it's not Multiplayer, I can't extract it for you.

Another double-post, I know, but I think this bears mentioning for those of you that are downloading these files:

If you're using them, please consider contributing by uploading your edited/unfolded files to the Halo 5 Archive. I'm seeing a lot of files making the rounds in the various Facebook groups, but none of those files are making their way back to the 405th, which sort of defeats the point of me having made them available here for the community. The packs I've made available have seen a massive 14,000 total downloads over the past few months, which is absolutely staggering, but I'm unfortunately not seeing a great deal of my hard work in making these files available bearing fruit in the form processed files for builders, which is depressing.

The entire point of this venture was to provide for the 405th community - I have no problems with people using these files and sharing them on Facebook, but please make sure you make them available to our non-Facebook users as well. I've seen some fantastic work done with these files already, and it would be a massive shame to restrict them to only those with access to our Facebook groups. I'll be contacting various users in time to try and encourage them to cross-post their work, but for now, it only remains to be said that I do want to see these files start to become available here as well. We're here as a community, let's not be selfish with these assets.
