Umm, really good models but, I'm currently unfolding the Marine helmet, can you please clean it up a bit, there is faces that you can see through other faces and the sides are all
Fu**ed
up. I'm just thinking if that you could clean it up a bit on the sides it would be great and not that hard to unfold ;)

You must be referring to the leg and shoulder armor pieces. Just go to 3DModelWindow --> Show Objects List and deselect the unwanted planes. For the leg armor, deselect Planes 01-03 and the armor will be revealed.

If you referring to the planes i used for blueprints, sorry i swear i had taken them all out, if that's not what your talking about pls explain.



for anyone unfolding the model can you pleas tell me if there are any flaws that i should fix so i know what not to do in the future, thank you.

wow i feel like a retard but where did u find any refs of the marins cuz i cant find any and how do i get the files into pepakura to unfold them

i don't know anything about using pepekura designer other than it must be a .3ds file, i used HD cutscenes of the halo wars videos and made a collection of pictures of anything with good reference to armor or ships. i could post them but i don't know if its OK to do so if i had taken the shots from the videos in quicktime.

Hey guys, I just finished unfolding the Thigh plate. Unfortunantly, the thigh plate was just about the only 3ds file that didn't have a few problems. I really wanted to unfold the helmet, and I technically did, but there's kind of some kind of "under layer" beneath the helm itself. When you unfold the file, you get two sets of pieces, one for the "standard def" helm, and then a not unfolded under layer of pieces. Kinda hard to explain, but maybe Ral or some of you other might know what I'm talking about. Anyway, here's the thigh plates. In Pep 3 and Pep 2.

You're right about having two "layers" to the file. That explains why the faces on the model look like they're shifting or "shimmering" (for a lack of a better term) when rotated. There are indeed two helmets in the file: one low-def and the other is medium-def.



Here what you all can do: if you want to unfold the medium-def helmet, go to 3DModelWindow --> Show Object List and select Cylinder01 only. This should now appear as a helmet with details like depressions and "buttons"(?). Save this under some filename of your choosing. If you want to unfold the low-def model instead, choose Cylinder04.

really sorry guys, forgot about the backup copy's i made and had hidden before i started another major change to the model. i can clean the files up and repost if wanted.





NOTE that the files are NOT SCALED to the right size as i said before, hope you guys remembered that, sorry for not doing that part.

Actually, this is good. You have a choice on which helmet to assemble based on the amount of detail you want on the pep. Any unfolder worth his salt should be able to handle this file as is.

Scaling will be the job of whoever decides to pep this so no need to apologize. It's fine as it is, really.

Thanks Ral, I wasn't aware I could delete certain objects from the model. That will help in the future. ;)



Unfortunently, I'm having another problem. When I delete the cylinder04, and then go to specify the scale, and unfold the model, it crashes Pep. Not a whole lot more I can do on my own. :( You care to release those cleaned up versions ForgedReclaimer?



EDIT: You're probably right Ral. Maybe I should leave these up to you. ;)
 
ill have them cleaned and posted tomorrow, although its not hard to go through and delete the stuff i have some other things to do right now.



ill put in the halowars shoulder and halo legends v2 hand plate also for the screw up so you guys could unfold them if you want.

For the guys unfolding do the files seem fine for pep work? are some spots to hard to make in pep?

NP. That's actually how you can select various chest and biceps perms using FS's and crackhead's file without having to unfold all of them. You can create a separate file for each perm.

That's strange. I just deselected cylinder04, unfolded it and saved it as a separate file. MY PD2 didn't crash.

Well I know I'm definatly going to try my hand at this if I could pull of a few Star Wars costuming files I'm sure I can pull this off now only if I can find a set of the Mk-VI 3D files I can really have fun.

You don't need the 3D files to do any unfolding. PDOs are just as good to start unfolding.

i want to unfold them but how do i get then to open up in pepakura and ForgedReclaimer do u mind posting ur finished 3dmodels on ur first post for easy access
 
Eureka!! I fixed it! :lol



Thanks for your help Ral Partha. It's a long story, but basically what I did was instead of deleting the cylinder04 before I unfolded the model; I deleted the cylinder04 after I unfolded it. That way I avoided crashing Pep, and also got rid of cyliner04's parts that were in the layout. So in a nutshell, I'm good to release this bad boy. Not sure if you released yours yet Ral, you should do that soon.
